John 14
12 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.
13 And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
14 If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.
15 ¶ If ye love me, keep my commandments.
16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;
17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.
18 I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you
But the LDS don’t get the Holy Spirit until after they are baptized.
The “other comforter” is the Holy Spirit, but it comes by faith. And the Holy Spirit does not leave the believer, but the LDS teaches He CAN leave if the person isn’t “worthy”.
Also, notice that faith comes BEFORE works, not the other way around. Christians do good works BECAUSE we have faith, not in order to have faith or be “worthy”.
Once again, LDS twisting scripture. *sigh*
And it still doesn’t mean that it was the HOLY GHOST that witnessed to you.
There is a VERY big difference between what the LDS think is the Holy Ghost, and what having the Holy Ghost really feels like. I have been on both sides of that one, and I would NEVER EVER go back to being LDS.
Actually having the Holy Spirit indwelling, is so much better than the “burning in the bosom” the LDS claim.

Resty, Satan quoted scripture to Jesus in the Wilderness. Try some other shamanistic tactic, hypocrit.
Resty, you are apparently incapable of understanding the pre-crucifixion messages of Jesus regarding His Holy Spirit to His disciples, and the era of Christian advent following the resurrection and indwelling Holy Spirit for those ‘faithing’ in His deliverance. Not surprising since Mormonism makes a living on deceiving people.
Resty, while it is undeniably true that grace and works are identifiable elements within God's plan of salvation, we miss the mark when we strive to work. Instead of working to please the Lord, our job is to let grace work in us to please Him. I think that the way that grace works in us can best be seen in simple story.
After many years of heartache, her husband died and she married again. This husband gave her all the love she had ever desired and then some. She was so happy that her struggle to please simply faded away. One day she discovered her first husband's rules, tucked away in a book. As she read the ten rules over again, to her delight and amazement she realized that she was keeping every one of them perfectly. Her new husband's love had made her able.
I rejoice in hearing your prayer. I humbly offer mine... that you know the peace of God's sabbath rest.
14 If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.
Then WHY not 'ask' to find out just what JS learned was UNTRUE about PRESBYTERIANism??
18 I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you (John 14:18)
