AccuWeather Forecaster on Climate Change: 'It's Ice not Fire You're Going to Be Worried About'
NewsBusters ^ | December 11, 2009 | Jeff Poor

While the wizards of smart are convening in Copenhagen, attempting to solve what they perceive to be the biggest global societal ill - anthropogenic climate change, one of the things that likely won't be discussed is the possibility of the opposite occurring, global cooling.

But AccuWeather's chief hurricane forecaster, Joe Bastardi warns it is a bigger threat than global warming. He says the phenomenon is coming, based on three priniciple reasons - 1) Natural reversal of ocean cycles, 2) Low sun spot activity and 3) An increase in volcanic and seismic activity. Bastardi made this case on the Fox Business Network's Dec. 11 "Imus in the Morning" program.

"I have something behind me here called the ‘Triple Crown of Cooling,'" Bastardi said. "I'm just as worried that in the next 30 years that we are going back into a period back in the early 1800s which was a mini-Ice Age. We have the natural reversal of the ocean cycles going on. We have very low sun spot activity, increased volcanic activity. I have to tell you something, after this winter in the eastern and southern part of the United States and in Europe - this winter here - a lot of people aren't going to want to hear about global warming because there's already signs that things are turning around."

All I could think was, it had to be so much worse for that poor guy than I imagined. To motivate that kind of regimen!

Makes more sense than "warming"...

The earth’s been cooling the last decade... why does he think that?

The conspiracy to push the global warming nonsense is entirely on the left, and it hasn’t been particularly anonymous — although it’s obvious that the stuff they exchange privately in email and whatnot is even more blatant than the things that have been public for some years.

I wish I could agree -- but if I recall correctly, the fastest-reproducing regions of the world are closest to the Equator.

I'm addressing arable land that is actively farmed to feed people. Most of the food is produced in North America. If the temps drop too low, the crops won't grow.

I'm with you: but it won't be sub-Saharan Africa, the Middle East, Bangladesh, and SE Asia who are migrating; it'll be Canada, Europe, and the U.S.

And the people already near the equator outnumber those who are predicted to need to migrate.

...but I agree, global cooling will put a world of hurt on foodstuffs.

Soylent Green, anyone? /sarc>

Cheers!

Very old, very good English country family, the Bastards.

The descendants delight in telling people things like, "Actually, my Mother was a Bastard." Old Norman handle, very common in Sicily, too.

When Joe Bastardi is finished, some very prominent people are going to be using it against him. But he's a tough bastard and can take it. It's Imus I am worried about. He doesn't even look human anymore and that is definitely a gay cowboy hat.

British Scientists say 2010 will be the warmest year on record.

Those limey pufta-boffins will seize upon any preposterous reason to excuse their pathetic lack of beer cooling capacity.

Cheese! How can you trust "scientists" who go to schools where upperclassmen can open their dorm room door and shout "FAG" at the top of their voices, and one will actually show up?

BOR used to use Joe as a source for his belief of AGW until Joe contradicted him on Bill’s show. Joe is very good at this trade and was one of the first to use fact to start the debunking of the AGW scam.

(which was discussed a lot 35 years ago, but never got traction)

And I have no doubt they’ll have the brass to blame George Bush for that, too...
