AccuWeather Forecaster on Climate Change: 'It's Ice not Fire You're Going to Be Worried About'
NewsBusters ^ | December 11, 2009 | Jeff Poor

While the wizards of smart are convening in Copenhagen, attempting to solve what they perceive to be the biggest global societal ill - anthropogenic climate change, one of the things that likely won't be discussed is the possibility of the opposite occurring, global cooling.

But AccuWeather's chief hurricane forecaster, Joe Bastardi warns it is a bigger threat than global warming. He says the phenomenon is coming, based on three priniciple reasons - 1) Natural reversal of ocean cycles, 2) Low sun spot activity and 3) An increase in volcanic and seismic activity. Bastardi made this case on the Fox Business Network's Dec. 11 "Imus in the Morning" program.

"I have something behind me here called the ‘Triple Crown of Cooling,'" Bastardi said. "I'm just as worried that in the next 30 years that we are going back into a period back in the early 1800s which was a mini-Ice Age. We have the natural reversal of the ocean cycles going on. We have very low sun spot activity, increased volcanic activity. I have to tell you something, after this winter in the eastern and southern part of the United States and in Europe - this winter here - a lot of people aren't going to want to hear about global warming because there's already signs that things are turning around."

Wow... thats some last name.

Sure is. When you hear him, you understand that the truth he speaks makes any reference to his name seem insignificant.

Joe is a great guy and I have been a fan for years.

Perhaps the AGW prophets already know this, and they’re hoping to accelerate the cooling in order to cause a disruption in food supplies, while appeasing third tier governments with funds from tax payers of the ‘wealthy’ nations.

I don't know how civilization as we know it survives the next ice age. Ice covering our financial center, Manhattan. New England under the ice. Upper Midwest, under. Seattle gone. Where I am is likely tundra. The British Isles, Europe's financial center, uninhabitable. Last Ice Age Europe's population fled to Southern Spain, Southern Italy and Greece.

So the most productive farmland in the world, gone. Massive populations moving south. It's going to be nasty fighting over the land and food that's left. (Shudder)

I wish I could agree -- but if I recall correctly, the fastest-reproducing regions of the world are closest to the Equator.

Cheers!

Yep. Mankind will survive. Although if there is full-out nuclear war it might be more Mad Max type stuff. One other thing though. I believe that because of the large amounts of ice “locking in” the moisture - it will be a much drier period as well.

That's one thing that has always been a curiosity for me about the entire global warming crowd in the government, and that is that SURELY our military has always been aware that the whole global warming imminent catastrophe was a total hoax --- so I have sometimes wondered if military intel was actually the originator behind the initial formation of this meme.

To what end? I'm not sure, but something obviously to do with longterm national security.

And as other freepers have pointed out, that although there exist many millions of True Believers, the scientists & politicians leading the charge on this ALL know that it's a LIE.

Is it ... possible... that there ARE large numbers of reputable meteorologists who DO believe that we are on the cusp of a massive ice age, and wanted to somehow prevent this from becoming common knowledge?

Oh, there’s going to have be a LOT of adjustment of doomsday scenarios-—I never heard the NY will be flooded, when the rivers and seas start rising, though, and that’s where I live (in NJ).My guess is that they don’t and won’t quite know what to do in the coming months and years-—the spotlight is on this issue now, and just when it should be peaking in their favor, with the Obama initiatives and the Copenhagen climate conference all supposed to start wrapping it up neatly, and get the policy ball rolling once and for all, it is instead, DEFLATING, like a giant balloon we’re watching slowly shrivel before our eyes. It will be a process all will have to partake in-—with slow grins appearing on the faces of even the MSM, former helpmates and champions of Gore, Inc., as they jump on the NEW bandwagon, and with great relief, realize that maybe they realy don’t have to be so worried after all......or at least PRETEND to be worried.......

We could reverse this cooling trend if we could get more CO2 into the atmosphere...oh, that’s right, the correlation is not there.

Damn! - I was so looking forward to wearing short sleeve shirts & shorts year round for the next 20 - 30 years......

++++++++++

There’s hope, you may not be able to afford the cloth to make long sleeves and long trouser legs after you pay the taxes that will stop the climate from changing.

I was looking forward to the lowlands being flooded and destroying the blue shaded areas on the U.S. voting map. Now everything is ruined.

..the fastest-reproducing regions of the world are closest to the Equator.

In an Ice Age they become temperate. The current temperate areas will become polar/arctic. The Tropics will only occur twice each year during the equatorial summers. So Tropics become Temperate with two short Tropical summers. Gonna be interesting to see what can be grown in those short half seasons. At least that is my best guess at present. How soon can that all occur ? We best be asking the CIA, since they already investigated the affects of cooling way back in the early 1970's.

'It's Ice not Fire You're Going to Be Worried About'

Some say the world will end in fire,
Some say in ice.
From what I've tasted of desire
I hold with those who favor fire.
But if it had to perish twice,
I think I know enough of hate
To say that for destruction ice
Is also great
And would suffice.

Do not think it is meteorologists holding back. The few that do believe we are cooling are very vocal right now, as they should be. We now know that the CIA investigated the affects of global cooling back when a cold year caused 1/2 of the Soviet Unions grain to fail. Because of the CIA study, the 1970's State Run Media began to run all the Ice Age is Coming stories. Then the climate mellowed, the Soviet Union fell apart and then the very unusual and abnormal 1998 warming occurred. Perhaps the governments agendas changed, but the problem then became Global Warming. Perhaps they are just hitching rides on any statist trains that happen to come by ? At any rate, since then the cooling trend has returned with a vengeance.
