Some good news! At least one American institution is still around. Let’s keep it that way.
Side note: I was going through some old boxes recently and found my last BSA ID card: from 1982. Blast from the past!
Happy Birthday Boy Scouts from a First Class Girl Scout.
Eagle Scout Dad and 12 year old, “working on it”, Grandson in the family.
I only made second class, but had the best time of my life, learned what responsibility is, met a great group of people, and went on to be an Asst. Scout master in my community troop. Scouts tought me the meaning of community, God, Country, and individual. I don’t think people today understand one of these four, let alone all of them...
And that is one major reason why I have a years supply of popcorn every year.
It is up to us to keep this worthwhile tradition going.
Doing a Good Turn Daily for a 100 years.
Woohoo....
Eagle Scout/Bronze Palm (June 1969)
Me too!
Me too!
Official B-Day is in February I guess (someone just told me).
Kickoff of 100 year celebration starts today though!
For what it’s worth, around 1989 - 1991 I attended a jamboree and Green Bar Bill was there - he was, if I’m correct, the second guy after Baden-Powell to embrace Boy Scouts in the USA. He chatted with us all and signed my BS hat - still have it - and you could see that he was a great guy...
HAPPY BIRTHDAY and MERRY CHRISTMAS Scouts.
And just in time to humiliate them, they are releasing supposed documents claiming the leader and founder of the Boy Scouts killed a POW.
Happy B’day from another Eagle Scout Freeper!!!! 1960 Troop 404 Durham NC Occoneechee Council!!!! Sort of like being a Marine, either you are or you aren’t...never an “ex” or “former”.
Dittos, Eagle Scout, Silver Palm, Marine Corps Sergeant!!
Dittos, Eagle scout, leader in many positions, applying for 50 year veteran next week.
I visited the Museum of Scouting last month and stood in awe in the gallery where hang 46 original Norman Rockwell scouting paintings.
God Bless the Boy Scouts! and their little brothers: The Cub Scouts!~
