Collins has already said “no” to Reid’s overtures, and Snowe is pushing a compromise that would not include a public option but instead would load up the already bankrupt Medicare and Medicaid rolls, and offer to US citizens the same Ferrari/Rolls Royce health plan that all Capitol Hill members, staff and employees receive. The plan is paid through the federal government but is run by private insurance companies. It’s the most generous, loaded, expensive plan I’ve ever seen, I don’t know how on earth we could ever afford it.

Failed to pass 54-45.
++++++++++++++++
This gives us a feel of the (poor) state of Pro Life sentiment in the Senate.

"reid must think he's got liberman,snow and collins." I believe (and am afraid) you're right with respect to Snowe and Collins, but I'm not so sure about Lieberman. See my tag.
He and Reid hate each other. He might vote no just for that. The fact that he's from a state with a lot of insurance companies, just gives him additional motivation to vote no.

How much will Reid have to pay the hoes to do the next trick? Great thing about that is, he will pay them with your money. How sweet is that?
He really doesn't have to give a damn about the price tag.

This gives us a feel of the (poor) state of Pro Life sentiment in the Senate. Right.
I'll venture to guess that Bob Casey-D from PA voted with Ben Nelson, but I can't think of any other democrats.

reid must think he's got liberman,snow and collins.
If the public option is still in there, then in theory Reid does NOT have Lieberman - he has stood firm that he will filibuster.

During the Afghan hearings this afternoon, the unlovely Collins mentioned meeting the generals at the White House yesterday.
Very interesting.

I do not believe or trust Lieberman, either. He’s nothing but another lying Democrat.

Interesting. You think they can’t pass marxcare anyway? But hasn’t the senate been more leftist than the house for years?

This may be good news - if it’s enough to keep the bill from passing. Some in the Senate supposedly hold that issue as a make or break one. God willing it’s true!! I don’t care how it goes down as long as it dies!!!!!! KILL THE BILL!!!!

I’m surprised that Kaufman (and, to a lesser extent, Bayh)voted for the anti-abortion amendment, and that Landrieu didn’t.
