NEW HAVEN Attorneys for a group of black city firefighters Monday filed a motion asking a federal court to halt the promotion of 10 other firefighters (including four minorities) who scored well enough on 2003 exams to be promoted.
The 10 firefighters advancements were approved Friday by the Board of Fire Commissioners, just three days after the board ratified the promotions of 14 other firefighters (all but one of them white) mandated by the U.S. Supreme Court decision in Ricci v. DeStefano.
The 10 in question scored high enough on the test to be promoted, but werent plaintiffs with the others in the 2004 suit that went to the high court.
The seven black firefighters opposing the promotions charge the exams were never validated and may be flawed. They said promoting the others will limit the plaintiffs future promotional opportunities.
The Monday filing by attorney Dennis R. Thompson of Akron, Ohio, assisted by attorney Christy Bishop, seeks any further promotions from these eligibility lists until the tests themselves can be subjected to thorough scrutiny. Thompson called the eligibility lists defective.

(irrespective of my competence).
There is a term for those “Plaintiffs”, but as I can’t USE IT.. i’ll settle for ... WHining LIBERAL CRYBABIES
Sniveling wussies ping!
Black racists run amok.
I guess scoring well on a test 6+yrs ago isn't enought time for these people to get promoted?? This seems more than a little ridiculous; waiting 6+ years to get a promotion.
WHAT
I thought this was all cleared up by the top court.
Why should they get a promotion when they were clearly not good enough?
I am fed up of hearing that someone should get a job or something because they are black , chinese, homosexual, etc.
Here’s a novel idea.
Give the promotion to those who are qualified and if you want that promotion then study HARDER THAN EVERYONE ELSE.
MLK said he wanted a color blind nation then these black idiots need to understand that and understand that you should not be given things because of your color.
That’s racist.
if I was black I would be insulted by this action and insulted by affirmative action.
All affirmative action states is that we will give you a job etc because you are black, etc the reason why we are doing that is because we think you’re just too thick to compete against whites.
I bet these blacks have bought that nice caddy, nice house etc and now can’t afford it so they need that extra pay.
Anyway can someone explain why they are dong this when it was all cleared up in the supreme court?
Obama’s in the White House. Social Justice decrees that the white firemen be demoted to janitor, or at least janitorial pay grade.
But wee wuz tole dat we’d get promoteded no matters wat!!
James Brown understood it. Lived it. And sang about it.
these blacks cannot compete against whites so we’ll have affirmative action for you.
That is how I would see it if I were black.
One guy had a learning disability but still beat these black guys so the question is did these black guys stay in every night and study, did they study at every chance or did they go out and hit the town on most nights thinking because they’re black they would get the job.
These guys should be embarrassed for themselves with the way they are going about this.
Why do those on the left always whine like little babies when they don’t get what they want?
more from the “i am entitled” group
So now every promotion in the NHFD will have to be heard by the USSC?
This is what you get with Affirmative Action Bullsh**.
Naked, Raw Racism on display at a fire station near you.
Halting the promotions of their fellow firefighters...good way to make themselves HATED! Do they really think they’re going to get any sympathy for their “cause”?
