A strong winter storm brought snow and traffic problems across Utah early Tuesday morning with the lake effect kicking in for some extra powder in parts of the Salt Lake Valley.
Drivers, businesses and families from Wendover to Vernal and Tremonton to St. George were having varying degrees of success coping with snow that was feet-deep in places.
Forecaster Eric Schoening of the National Weather Service's Salt Lake City office said he expected the storm to taper off Tuesday afternoon. Skies should clear for several days with another weaker storm expected to hit late Saturday and into Sunday. Temperatures will remain cold as skies clear, with forecasted highs on Wednesday ranging from the low 20s in the Salt Lake Valley

We’ve been experiencing a little global cooling here in New Mexico the last few days, probably caused by the hot, carbon air that has been hanging around up there for three thousand years.

Sun is out with blue skies in Salt Lake right now, but the drive in this morning was time consuming. Watch out for black ice tonight, folks.

The last time I was at Sundance, up Provo Canyon, the snowbase was several feet above the roof of our car. I always get a kick out of listening to the snowbase reports here in the East. They’re ecstatic if its greater than six inches.

Just a bit North here in Montana we've had some really good snow so far this year, but with today's high -5 F (yes, minus five for our high) it's a bit too cold for much snow in this storm.
Yeah ski season!

We gave up on the skiing business about twenty years ago when our kids (not Elsies) left the nest. If you come to Salt Lake City, our home is available as we are only twenty minutes from Alta. Our Development Director is a huge ski bum at age 73. He lives very close to us there. His wife is a talking points Utah liberal, but we put up with her.
BTW, Elsies kids look like they might be good for something. Does goat taste good? I knew a Muslim that swore by goat meat.
