In yesterdays New York Times, there was an article about White House social secretary Desirée Rogers. In it, reporter Sheryl Gay Stolberg wrote: When former social secretaries gave a luncheon to welcome Ms. Rogers earlier this year, one participant said, she surprised them by suggesting the Obamas were planning a non-religious Christmas .
This same participant said that the Obamas did not intend to put the manger scene on display (this was confirmed by the White House). Indeed, as Stolberg wrote, there had been internal discussions about making Christmas more inclusive and whether to display the crèche.
Catholic League president Bill Donohue addressed this issue today:
Unlike almost all Americansincluding atheiststhe Obamas do not give their children Christmas gifts. We know this because Barack bragged about this last year to People magazine. So it should come as no big surprise that he and his wife would like to neuter Christmas in the White House. Thats their natural stepto ban the public display of Christian symbols. Have any doubts? Last April, Georgetown University was ordered to put a drape over the name of Jesus as a condition of the president speaking there.
If the Obamas want to deprive their children of celebrating Christmas, that is their business. It is the business of the public to hold them accountable for the way they celebrate Christmas in the White House. We know one thing for sure: no other administration ever entertained internal discussions on whether to display a nativity scene in the White House.
HOW shall we do Kawaanza this year, folks?? HOW many discussions did they have about that? What is Oprah having Christmas At The WH Special for when the occupants do NOT wish to observe Christmas, much less celebrate it?
But I do note that Obama seemed to have a fine time taking notice of Ramadan and Eid.
They put up the creche in its traditional place, but apparently with some Obama angst. (gag)
The original article is actually earlier, I believe; there was a lot of negative comment when Desiree Rogers said this, and the WH had to back down and put up the creche in its usual place...this year, at least.
I’d like to neuter the Obamas.
Just imagine what kind of tree ornaments they could think up, LOL!!!
Maybe they finally got tired of partying all the time.
This is just one more thing on the list of reasons to dislike the man, but honestly, I don’t care about this near as much as the policy disasters he’s bringing to America.
I can keep Christmas, and I don’t care what Obama does. That will be between him and God one day. As long as no one infringes on my way of keeping Christmas, I’m fine.
Obama is a scumbag. But his policies are what are going to impact my life, not his personal life.
I think it comes from Bambi’s Muslim past, unless Michelle was a Jehovah’s Witness as a child (a lot of blacks are). Jehovah’s Witnesses don’t celebrate Christmas.
However, her father was a big Chicago ward boss, so it’s hard to imagine that the family was JW.
Bingo - everything they do for the traditional WH Christmas celebrations will be a charade and they will be throwing up in their mouths a little bit.
Barack Obama is not a CHRISTIAN, he is a MUSLIM
The Obamas are always missing in action when an important holiday, especially patriotic or religious is observed.
I wonder if Michelle wears a burka in private. sarc/
Just WHICH church do the Obamas attend? I thought that they were still deciding upon a church?????
A Muslim is a Muslim, and there is no Christ or should we say No Christmas.
no birthday gifts for Jesus either
maybe they will emerge from the Kailua compound to visit the little unitarian church on the hill where they will remember dear beloved Toot with Bette Midler music...... but maybe not
The church he attended for 20 years, where he was married, was the "Trinity United Church of Christ," which had a "theology" basically like that of Jim Jones' People's temple.
Thanks for the explanation. Is it bad for me to be delighted that a depiction of the coming of the Son of God and Risen Savior Jesus Christ causes angst for Barack Hussein Obama?
:^)
Possibly. It was reported in the “Style” section of the New York Times, but I don’t know if that was before or after the Vanity Fair article.
