New Letter From Obummer
Email | 12/7/09 | Obama

Rich --

After years of waiting and months of debate, it's easy to forget how painfully urgent the fight for health reform truly is. So consider this: Since the full Senate began debating its bill just two weeks ago, approximately 200,000 Americans have lost their health insurance.

That's a staggering number, but it's important to see beyond the statistics to glimpse the true human toll. That's the size of a city like Richmond, Virginia or Des Moines, Iowa. Imagine knowing that every single man, woman, and child you meet there is suddenly one injury or illness away from bankruptcy and ruin.

If this suddenly happened to just one of our great cities, no one would dispute calling it an emergency and responding swiftly. Yet this has happened throughout America during just the last two weeks of debate, and it will continue to happen until we enact the reform our nation so desperately needs.

The Senate is moving quickly toward holding its first full vote on health reform -- ever.

So in the coming days we can count on two things: First, millions of Americans will struggle under the weight of our broken system. Second, those who prioritize padding insurance company profits and scoring partisan points will spend millions to hold back change.

The only question is: How many voices will demand a solution to this crisis, and will it be enough to drown out the lobbyists' noise?

Organizing for America has an ambitious plan to bring the voices of real Americans to the forefront of the debate, just when it matters most. This grassroots strategy is critical to our progress thus far, and we can't finish the job alone. So, today, I'm asking for your help once again.

Please donate $5 or whatever you can afford to power OFA's health reform campaign in these final, make-or-break weeks:

The next steps we take together could change everything. It's in your hands, now, to make sure that they do.

Thank you,

President Barack Obama

Hey Obama, if your health care bill is so damn great, how about you, your wife, your daughters, and the cronies in Congress all sign up and get it.

"...it's easy to forget how painfully urgent the fight for health reform truly is.

Yeah it's so easy to forget that i can get into see my doctor the same day i call and that our prescription copay is zero dollars. It's so easy to forget how lab tests, xrays, CT Scans, and even MRI's can be done the same day the doctor requests them. Guess that's why it's just so easy to forget that reform is needed.

Can a sitting president, not running for anything, actively solicit donations from citizens?

Is this legal?

Doesn’t seem right for him to pressure others to vote his way.

What doesn’t Barack get about representation with taxation. We The People elect representatives to represent our decisions and point of view on the Federal Level. Our representatives are obligated to by loyal to the citizens within their district/state over some alleged homosexual who cheated on his wife with men from Chicago.

Why should folks from other states on his payroll write to Senators outside of their State, asking them to vote in a certain way? Why doesn’t Barack understand that we elect people to represent our wishes in Washington. He has no right to threaten our representatives to vote against our will. The States have rights and representation on each and every issue.

Barack, back off of our States Rights. You and Rahm have no right threatening our Representatives to not represent those that live in his district. Back Off.

If it is, it shouldn’t be and I have doubts it is legal.
