NPR reporter pressured over Fox role (Mara Liasson)

Executives at National Public Radio recently asked the network’s top political correspondent, Mara Liasson, to reconsider her regular appearances on Fox News because of what they perceived as the network’s political bias, two sources familiar with the effort said.

According to a source, Liasson was summoned in early October by NPR’s executive editor for news, Dick Meyer, and the network’s supervising senior Washington editor, Ron Elving. The NPR executives said they had concerns that Fox’s programming had grown more partisan, and they asked Liasson to spend 30 days watching the network.

At a follow-up meeting last month, Liasson reported that she’d seen no significant change in Fox’s programming and planned to continue appearing on the network, the source said.

Most of us here on FR view Mara and Juaun Williams as somewhat irritating libs but, at least I, still enjoy watching them mix it up on Fox News and would never consider censoring them. No so for the Obamunists, who view free speech as something they, and they alone, have.

This morning on NPR they had a report on the declining American belief that climate change is human-caused. They hit on every pro-AGW talking point while ignoring the 800-pound gorilla - that maybe, just maybe, the skeptics are right. Juan mirrored the same approach on his appearance on Fox News Sunday - so you’d think the NPR types would WANT to have a liberal to present the usual talking points on Fox.

I think that it is only fair and right that Fox has folks on with the other view, that is what true journalism is about, unlike MSNBC.

Let me just say that it wouldn’t bother me if I never heard Mara Liasson again, and I resent her being paid with my tax dollars. But for NPR to criticize Fox for bias is ludicrous in its pot-kettle-black hypocrisy.

So the NPR execs solution to the bias on Fox is to pull off the libs? No wonder they need public funding to survive.

Mara and Juan are slowly becoming Hannitized ... I believe there is hope for both

Their party bosses .... err employers....calling them in and telling them where to work and where NOT to work, is rather pathetic for a journalist

Heck far more people hear NPR views on Fox News than they ever would listening to NPR itself.

THEY DON"T SEE BIAS ON THEIR SIDE?......

Free speech for me and not for thee!

Makes you kind of wonder when the libs get their "Fairness Doctrine" passed how bad it will get.

BTW - I used to listen to NPR on my way to work but stopped in 2002 when it became -- Bush Bashing and Chaney Complaining Central. I began to notice the stories they didn't carry were the ones I needed to learn more about on FR!

They whine that FOX is too "partisan" while trying to pressure the lib pundits who appear on the network not to go on?

The fact she is on FOX proves the balanced approach they take unlike the other networks...

Nah. This is orders from Rahm. Isolate, personalize, destroy. They want to stop people from going on Fox to marginalize the network.

They want to be the gatekeepers of truth as they see it. They only want you to hear/see what they want you the hear/see. THAT is why they hate Fox soooooo much it makes them ill.....................

NPR Politburo: “Fox is radically biased to the right so it is essential for us to force our most liberal commentator to never express our viewpoint there!”

Welcome to NPR, the voice of Bizarro World.

“...they asked Liasson to spend 30 days watching the network. “

After that failed, she’ll be sent to a “re-education” camp run by ACORN.

This is OUR tax money that pays, in large part, for NPR. It should not be a mouthpiece for one party, which it has been for the past 40 years. Fox is much more balanced than NPR and its minions (such as LBJ aide and Vietnam-losing startegist Bill Moyers). NOT WITH OUR MONEY!

Don’t you think it is odd that when Fox wants a lib they get them from NPR? Isn’t that pretty much a declaration by NPR that their reporters are left biased?
