New York Times Staffers Freaking As Bill Keller Raises The Axe

Keith Kelly|Dec. 4, 2009, 11:10 PM | 61 |

With just days to go until a Monday deadline, New York Times Executive Editor Bill Keller yesterday confirmed that he was unlikely to get 100 newsroom volunteers to accept buyouts -- meaning he'll wield the layoff ax for the second time in two years.

Sources said the newsroom was in a state of high anxiety this week because of chatter that just 50 unionized editorial workers from the Newspaper Guild are expected to step forward for voluntary buyouts by the deadline of close of business Monday.

50 unionized editorial workers? How many people does it take to come up with a boneheaded opinion?

Heh, heh. I love it when Liberals are no longer insulated from the effects of their policies.

Mostly glorified proof readers and fact checkers, and not particularly good ones.

Cuts will probably need to be deeper, given the NYT retention of the boston Globe.

Fact checkers?!? LOL! These people just do copy and paste from the emails the DNC sends them.

They are propagandists. They wanted Hope and Change.

Our “Hope” is the NY Times implodes

Their “Change” will be their new gig at McDonalds.

Sounds like they are letting their most productive workers take buy outs. Great business move. Just like the auto makers paying people to not work. Bunch of geniuses there for sure.

Not very good ones, and also quite selective in whose facts they check. I guess it means fewer liberal hacks perusing Palin’s book. As far as I know, none of them bothered to “fact-check” Obumwad’s so-called books. Ayers may have scared them off with a bomb threat or something.

Now just where in the He## do they expect these future, unemployed, Marixsts favoring, Obamalamadingdong loving, Constitution despising, America bashers find jobs? I guess the situation could only get worse if they find jobs at the WH and I have to help pay their salaries. I guess their “friends” in Congress will have to hurry up the government bailout and complete control of all propoganda bill some in Congress wee as vital to the government’s interests. After all, if their marching orders are not published daily in the NYT, they may actually have an original thought and then freeze in fear of not knowing if is OK to think for themselves ot vote the way their constituents favor.

Watergate was the final nail in the coffin of journalism. H. L. Mencken, a high school drop out, nursed a deep contempt for those whom he called the hoch-gelernte, and reserved an extra dollop of spite for reporters (he would never have called himself a “journalist”) who has soiled the trade (he would never have called it a “profession”) by polluting it with academic nonsense.

Journalism, in the state controlled press is terrified to report on the biggest scam in my life. Day 15 and counting they are all joined at the hip in not reporting what is all over the internet. It used to be funny in hearing them all say the same phrase on que, like Cheney brought weight to the Bush ticket and so on. This is the same but in reverse.

Who needs so many so called journalist when they printing what they are told to print?

Revolution can’t be far when you have lost the free press

The press is “free”, but for the most part the “prestige” press are in thrall to the Democratic Party and the “progressive” point of view. An ideological straitjacket makes you a bore.

There is a Dilbert cartoon, (I wish I could find and post) that shows the office after the Boss installed new motion sensor lighting. Lights kept going off because cube workers didn't move enough, so the Boss 'fixed' the problem by hiring someone to walk around moving his arms to keep the lights on.

Dilbert's dry comment was, "Another Journalism student enters the workforce."

If these guys acted like real objective journalists maybe I could muster some pity, but since they’re nothing but liberal hacks...

Let these liars get a real job! Hope and change...ain’t it grand! ;-)
