Sarah Palin has said the United States should rededicate itself to seeking God's will.
The former US vice-presidential candidate argued that a humble spirit could help leaders to get more answers on issues such as health care, energy and national security.
In a video released Friday by the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, the 2008 Republican candidate for vice president, said it was important for leaders to recognise they don't have all the answers.
Mrs Palin said: "No one person has all the right answers. It takes a united nation, and it does take godly counsel, and it takes prayer and answers to prayer - and a collective humble heart of a nation seeking God's hand of protection and his blessings of prosperity.
"I think if we can get back to that, our country will be a safer, more prosperous and healthier nation."
The former Alaska governor referred to an Abraham Lincoln proclamation that declared a day of national humiliation, fasting, and prayer.
She said the United States has been "touched by God" because the nation's early leaders dedicated the country to God.
Mrs Palin said: "If we could get back to that, that humbleness, with that kind of contrite spirit, I think that we would be able to be provided more of the answers to so many of the great challenges that we're facing.

Boy, the liberals really aren’t going to like her now.
PING AMEN
Good, she’s aligned with our founders.
This will make my scrambled eggs taste better this morning. heh :)
With almost 90% of the population of this country identifying themselves as Christian, she stands in the right place to be the type of leader we need to bring the ascent from our current malaise.
The condition and outlook for this nation will get worse in the coming years and when people start to look for answers, they ineveitably will do so as they did after 9/11 for divine guidance. Those who call themselves pulic leaders will then be gauged on their history of standing on principles in the regard to religion and she will stand at the forefront.
We will soldier on to the next fight in 2010 but indications are beginning to show it will not be much of a battle that conservatism will win, if we are allowed to vote.
Sarah recogizes this is exactly what is happening in the country and I'm greatfully thankful she has the guts not only to say it, but fight to continue this founding idea as well.
She needs tons of prayers .. this woman if not already, has a huge bullseye on the back her. She is so dangerous to the establishment and they know it.
Sarah is absolutely RIGHT!
Amen, Sarah!

By the President of the United States of America.
A Proclamation.
Whereas, the Senate of the United States, devoutly recognizing the Supreme Authority and just Government of Almighty God, in all the affairs of men and of nations, has, by a resolution, requested the President to designate and set apart a day for National prayer and humiliation.
And whereas it is the duty of nations as well as of men, to own their dependence upon the overruling power of God, to confess their sins and transgressions, in humble sorrow, yet with assured hope that genuine repentance will lead to mercy and pardon; and to recognize the sublime truth, announced in the Holy Scriptures and proven by all history, that those nations only are blessed whose God is the Lord.
And, insomuch as we know that, by His divine law, nations like individuals are subjected to punishments and chastisements in this world, may we not justly fear that the awful calamity of civil war, which now desolates the land, may be but a punishment, inflicted upon us, for our presumptuous sins, to the needful end of our national reformation as a whole People? We have been the recipients of the choicest bounties of Heaven. We have been preserved, these many years, in peace and prosperity. We have grown in numbers, wealth and power, as no other nation has ever grown. But we have forgotten God. We have forgotten the gracious hand which preserved us in peace, and multiplied and enriched and strengthened us; and we have vainly imagined, in the deceitfulness of our hearts, that all these blessings were produced by some superior wisdom and virtue of our own. Intoxicated with unbroken success, we have become too self-sufficient to feel the necessity of redeeming and preserving grace, too proud to pray to the God that made us!
It behooves us then, to humble ourselves before the offended Power, to confess our national sins, and to pray for clemency and forgiveness.
Now, therefore, in compliance with the request, and fully concurring in the views of the Senate, I do, by this my proclamation, designate and set apart Thursday, the 30th. day of April, 1863, as a day of national humiliation, fasting and prayer. And I do hereby request all the People to abstain, on that day, from their ordinary secular pursuits, and to unite, at their several places of public worship and their respective homes, in keeping the day holy to the Lord, and devoted to the humble discharge of the religious duties proper to that solemn occasion.
All this being done, in sincerity and truth, let us then rest humbly in the hope authorized by the Divine teachings, that the united cry of the Nation will be heard on high, and answered with blessings, no less than the pardon of our national sins, and the restoration of our now divided and suffering Country, to its former happy condition of unity and peace.
In witness whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the United States to be affixed.
Done at the City of Washington, this thirtieth day of March, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and sixty-three, and of the Independence of the United States the eighty seventh.
By the President: Abraham Lincoln
William H. Seward, Secretary of State.
It should be obvious that sticking to the 10 Commandments would spare the world an awful lot of misery.
Good on ya, Sarah.
Meanwhile, we have a “president” who blows off the National Prayer Breakfast and calls us a muslim nation. Please, God, see us safely to 2012.
The only conceivable way I can imagine the liberals (or our own RINOs; which pretty much amounts to the exact same thing, really) hating her MORE openly than they do right now would be if they publicly declared a literal fatwa on her. ;)
Good for her.
How far we have fallen.
Exactly. And you’re right about the RINOs. They hate her every bit as much as the commies do.
Which proves 2 things to me:
1. RINOs and commies are basically indistinquishable from each other
2. We need President Palin in 2012
Amen to that. The US has fallen away for the most part of our Christian heritage and we are bearing the fruits of it now.
As a Christian, I will choose to disagree with you. The Ten Commandments were given to REVEAL SIN, not eliminate it. It should be obvious that sticking to the 10 Commandments faith in Jesus Christ would spare the world an awful lot of misery. The Law was fulfilled with Jesus, and a new Dispensation brought to bear. Faith in Jesus means you must obey God's Sprit, rather than a bunch of written rules. He expects perfection, but allows for failure (when faith is exercised).
Thank God for Sarah.
Matthew 22: 34 Hearing that Jesus had silenced the Sadducees, the Pharisees got together. 35 One of them, an expert in the law, tested him with this question:
36 "Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?" 37 Jesus replied: " 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' 40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments."
