FBI Continues to Seek Information about Robert Levinson

Retired FBI Special Agent Missing for 1,000 Days

Today marks 1,000 days since American citizen Robert Levinson—a retired FBI special agent—went missing on March 9, 2007 during a business trip to Kish Island, Iran.

As the FBI is the lead agency in the investigation of the disappearance of Americans overseas, we continue to seek information about Mr. Levinson’s whereabouts, well-being, and the circumstances surrounding his disappearance. Although the FBI has not received any information from Iranian authorities to date about Mr. Levinson, we are willing to cooperate fully with Iranian investigators in our effort to find Mr. Levinson and bring him home safely.

On this 1,000 day mark of Mr. Levinson’s disappearance, we at the FBI express our continued support to his family, including his wife, seven children, and two grandchildren. We ask anyone with information about the Levinson case to contact the nearest FBI office or American Embassy. Information can also be provided to the Levinson family via their website: www.helpboblevinson.com.

“LEVINSON—a retired FBI special agent—went missing on March 9, 2007 during a business trip to Kish Island, Iran.”

- Oy! Not good in IRAN!

Methinks a certain Russian hoodlum (whom Levinson testified against) was tipped off by the Iranians, and promptly did him in.

He should have known not to step foot anywhere near Iran without backup.

FBI Highlights Seven-Year Anniversary of the Disappearance of Robert A. Levinson

Reward Still Available for Information Leading to His Safe Location and Return
Washington, D.C.

March 07, 2014
Public Information Office

On the seventh anniversary of his disappearance from Kish Island, Iran, a reward of up to one million dollars continues to be offered for any information that leads to the safe location and return of Robert A. Levinson.

Mr. Levinson, who will turn 66 on March 10, retired as a special agent of the Federal Bureau of Investigation in 1998. On March 8, 2007, Mr. Levinson traveled to Kish Island, Iran, as a private investigator. He went missing the next day and is now one of the longest-held Americans in history.

The FBI is responsible for investigating crimes committed against U.S. citizens abroad and has been conducting an investigation to locate Mr. Levinson since his disappearance. Two years ago, on the fifth anniversary of his disappearance in March 2012, the FBI announced the one million dollar reward.

“Bob’s absence over the past seven years has exacted an enormous toll on his family, and we will not waver in our commitment to bringing him home safely to his loved ones and his country,” said FBI Director James B. Comey. “We continue to request the assistance of our international partners, as well as the Islamic Republic of Iran, and we continue to ask anyone with information regarding Bob’s disappearance to contact the FBI.”

For more information regarding Mr. Levinson, to include photographs and reward information, please visit www.fbi.gov/levinson. Anyone with information regarding Mr. Levinson or his captors is encouraged to contact the FBI at tips.fbi.gov. Information will be kept confidential and can be provided anonymously.

Statement from the family of Robert Levinson

Posted on March 7, 2014 by helpboblevinson

This Sunday, March 9, 2014, will mark seven years since Robert Levinson was kidnapped while visiting Kish Island, Iran.  He was taken hostage on March 9, 2007, and is the longest-held hostage in American history.

Today we remind the world that, after seven years, Bob is still not home with those who love him - his wife, sons, daughters, grandchildren and friends.   Bob’s continued imprisonment defies the humanity in all of us.

After seven years, we have almost no words left to describe our life without Bob.  We miss his face, his voice, his laughter, his wisdom and his embrace.  We miss everything about Bob.  No matter where we turn, Bob is absent.

Bob will be 66 years old on Monday, March 10.  We continue to be extremely worried about his health, especially due to his advancing age and the harsh conditions that he is enduring.  We pray that he is receiving the medical care he may need.

We ask those who are holding Bob to show mercy and send him home to us so he may live out the rest of his life quietly and in peace.    We ask the government of Iran to resolve Bob’s case on humanitarian grounds so he may safely return home.  We ask the U.S. government to recognize its duty to bring home one of its own who was taken while serving his country.

Bob, if you are able to see or hear this message, we urge you to be strong.

You have two new grandsons: One was born just three weeks ago; the other is four months old - the same age our oldest grandson was when you were first kidnapped.  Our love for you grows each day, and we pray for that moment when we will be reunited as a family.
