Joanna Krupa was in Los Angeles December 1st for a PETA protest outside Barkworks, a Southern California pet store with seven (7) locations, expressing her disapproval for pet breeders and the Government which allows them to prosper.

The Dancing With The Stars alum had this to say in an exclusive PETA interview: "You know, we're trying to spread the word that breeding isn't the way to go. Somebody needs to put their foot down and stop this breeding and these puppy mills. … [T]hey're in these little tiny cages, and all they're doing is breeding their whole life. It makes me so angry that our government doesn't do anything about it. So I am!"

The protest in Los Angeles was also used as an opportunity for Ms. Krupa to unveil her racy new ad campaign for PETA entitled "Be an Angel for Animals." ...

The campaign immediately came under fire by The Catholic League who was offended by the use of Catholic and Christian imagery ...

I love animals. I love them baked, fried, broiled, poached, fricasseed, sauteed, jerked, steamed, boiled and grilled. I love them.

She likes puppies, but is against the inhumane treatment of animals by those who see dogs as breeding machines

She wouldn’t have dressed like that here this morning! It’s 27 degress right now!

They would rather go naked than wear fur ONLY in warm climates! Try living like that in the winter snows!

PETA's so darned confused.

They take a legitimate complaint and tart it up painting with a broad brush and offending the heck out of the Catholics.

They aren't really interested in helping animals, they just want to make a noise.

The valid point they have is that you should never buy from a puppy mill, or from a pet store (which get most of their puppies from the mills).) The pups are indeed mass produced, indiscriminately bred, not checked for genetic faults, hips, eyes, etc., unsocialized, and kept under unsanitary and disease-ridden conditions.

Where I part company is when they say to only rescue and not buy. IF you do your research and buy from a reputable hobby breeder who is active in his or her breed association and also competes in obedience and/or an appropriate performance discipline as well as conformation, odds are you'll get a VERY good dog.

Typical Liberal thought process - which is short hand to “there is no thought process - just feelings”.

Maybe this babe should sit down and do some thinking, she is not going to be drop-dead gorgeous the rest of her life.

It’s supply and demand equation; either the dogs in the pound get adopted, or the puppies on the farm. Whomever doesn’t get adopted, gets killed. So, we either kill the dogs in the pound, or the puppies on the farms.

But, a Liberal is incapable of thinking a concept through, they just get their panties in a bundle based upon their feelings (cue music).

The ad could’ve done without the Rosary and halo, but I don’t think portraying someone as ‘an angel for animals’ is inherently offensive. I’m an Angel for Animals. All of mine have been pound found except our last Yellow Lab who came from a friend’s dog with an ‘accidental’ pregnancy, LOL!

Wisconsin just passed a law banning puppy mills. If you sell over 25 dogs a year, you have to be licensed by the state to do so.

So? Now the puppy mills will break down into smaller operations, sell only 24 and keep them in miserable conditions.

Nothing ever changes, Ms. Krupa. And put your clothes on and put your dancing shoes back on! You were terrific on the dance floor.

The problem with that is there is no real inspection and enforcement. As long as so and so can make money selling overpriced animals some fool will be trying to do it out of a shoe box in the basement. Are several shoe boxes.

Puppy mills are a disgrace. Even more disgraceful is AKC’s lack of oversight.

AKC makes billions for registering litters of puppies produced in those puppy mills.

There is no oversight - a piece of paper is worth more than those poor breeding bitches’ lives of pure hell.

Extremely well said American Mother.

However, you failed to point out that PETA KILLS 90+% of all dogs and cats they take in. They are against the ownership of mammals/fish(sea kittens) in every form. They do not care where they come from or how they are bred. They do not want you to eat meat, where fur or own pets. They prefer to kill dogs and cats than rehome them.
