Voters have every right to ask candidates for information if they so choose. Ive pointed out that it was seemingly fair game during the 2008 election for many on the left to badger my doctor and lawyer for proof that Trig is in fact my child. Conspiracy-minded reporters and voters had a right to ask... which they have repeatedly. But at no point not during the campaign, and not during recent interviews have I asked the president to produce his birth certificate or suggested that he was not born in the United States.
I don’t know what could be more important at this point than pressing Constitutional restraint. It speaks to ALL the things you mentioned — all things that Obama has done that violate the Constitution.
We can beat the liberals on ALL those issues AND push for Obama to release his records (including all his college records as well).
I’m greatly disheartened to speak of a great many of her supporters as “Conspiracy-minded” individuals. Gosh on the previous thread I was JUST on I was thrilled to hear her mention this saying it was a “fair question” which it most definitely IS. After all, it was a fair question when asked of McCain, was it not?
As for America not giving a rat’s ass about his BC — I think there are a great many people who have NO IDEA of the controversy over this. If it was actually covered in the media fairly (instead of the way it has been) MANY more people would be VERY concerned about it - and rightly so.
Again, this issues speaks to ALL the issues you mentioned. Nearly everything Obama and Congress has done can be questioned by referring to the Constitution. If we the people have no way of ensuring that our gov’t is following the Constitution in ALL matters, then our Republic is only going to suffer MORE. And, this really IS a matter of national security if Obama has more than one allegiance - otherwise the Founding Fathers would never have made it an issue in the first place!
I was actually hoping the RNC would come for his college transcripts, but of course you knew that before you posted. You sly dog.
Whenever one enters the political arena, one will first have to become a politician. We can’t have it any other way. There have been politicians who have been upright and driven by love of the country they served.
BHO reportedly sealed all of his records within minutes of his inauguration. I don’t think we can get to his college records any more easily than we can get to his BC. But, Ms Pelosi signed a certification for the DNC that contained an identifying typo and a certification of qualification; she also signed one for forty-nine of the fifty electoral commissions that contained the same typo, but no “cert of qual.” If charges against her can be passed around Holder’s “Justice” Department, Nancy will be found guilty, and she will sing like a squawking old crow — not well, but effectively. I’m not holding my breath, but it could happen.
You and me both... I understand her stating that she has never asked for it, and that she believes he was born here, but to raise this issue with the one regarding Trig and labeling it a “Conspiracy Theory” how does she balance that with saying it’s a fair question? I hope Sarah realizes just how many of her supporters DO care about this issue... Right now I’m personally stunned and wondering if she, like all other politicians it seems, is playing the game now — trying to please everyone... I hate to be the one to say it, but she won’t gain much by doing that. And being called a “conspiracy-minded voter” has REALLY turned me off. I feel the same as when Bush called me (all of us) a racist for being against the Shamnesty Bill.
So what do you propose? Sarah has always been a politician, but she is an honest one. She is Davy Crockett without junk, but is still wouldn’t want to get in a knife fight with her.
The point is that Davy Crockett was also a politician, but a patriot. Sarah is a coonskin patriot.
I don't expect her to reveal exact policies etc. at this time...even I forget she is doing a book tour. Never-mind that most people see her tour as political front to run. Actually she can say pretty much anything she wants because it is a book tour. Good move on her part if she runs.
I really do hope your take is right on this... Perhaps I’m touchy, but then so many of us Patriotic Americans, as you said, are regarding this issue. I think I’m just sick and tired of “Conspiracy” talk in regards to this issue. It makes it sound as if Obama has already gone above and beyond to prove he was eligible when nothing of the sort has ever been done, ya know?
Is that the tactic you are seeing with this — I sure hope you are right. Reading two threads back to back here at FR about this it struck me as back-tracking, but maybe I’m just too touchy about this subject — it’s been going on for FAR too long and SOMEONE with power has to come out and support those of us asking the question or it will NEVER be answered, and for SURE the MSM is NOT going to do that — heck even the CONSERVATIVE news media, and pundits are not even asking the question despite all the lawsuits still ongoing (besides Orly’s)
Impeachment doesn't create a Constitutional crisis. The House votes 50% plus one to impeach for treason, high crimes or misdemeanor; and the Senate votes by two thirds to remove.
It doesn't even have to be about his eligibility. Everything this administration and congress have done since January 2009 has been un-constitutionally treason, high crimes, and probably gazillions of misdemeanors to add.
Voters need to vote like their lives depend on the outcomes, and state governments need to clean up their registration rolls and their election processes as if their lives depend on it.
Will it happen? I don't know. But I believe these really are the most dangerous times for the nation since its founding.
There's a pretty simple reason why it's not at the top. It is because the American people don't want to believe that 50 secretary of states, plus whatever checks there are in territories and the District of Columbia, as well as thousands of reporters for all levels of the MSM didn't verify this information for themselves.
A juicy secert like that, the story of uncovering it would be worth tens of millions. Not to mention probably hundreds of millions to the legal profession if not billions as the lawyers try to untangle all the laws, appointments, orders, rulings by judges appointed, appeals - that kind of windfall would overcome the risk of breaking attorney-client privileged.
My own guess is that it lists Obama's father as 'unknown negro' or his mother as 'unmarried', or some other inconsequential but embarrassing tidbit that was later amended. After all, a mixed blood child at the time would be shockingly embarrassing, and relatives could have thought it best, at the time of birth, not to share that information.
You're right that she is "playing the game" and she is doing it brilliantly, but she's not trying to please eyerybody.
The hateful media are trying their level best to label her a "birther kook" and she just out smarted them.
She doesn't object to the electorate questioning his place of birth or the country of his passports. She's stated we have every right to demand answers and that the questions are valid, particularly in light of the outrageous "conspiracy theories" that were launched against her. In fact, this "birther" is yet another example.
Everything Sarah says is subject to media fact checking and media distortion. Nobody knows that better than Sarah.
I'm sorry your feelings are hurt and I don't mean that sarcastically. Feeling are going to get hurt, but Sarah must protect herself from the media. I applaud her. She's on the offense! GO SARAH!
Welcome to FR!
I too, forget that she's on a book tour! The crowds are HUGE and just imagine the size they'd be if the signings were unlimited!!!!!
You mentioned that you don't expect her to reveal her policies on her book tour (I don't either) but I read the following tonight on another thread. It's a quote from her interview earlier tonight on the Rusty Humphries Radio show.
""Close the border. They're called illegal aliens for a reason. If they're not going to follow the rules, they should not be in our country. Close the border, and get more aggressive about cracking down on illegal aliens.""
We are in a war. Country First.
I hope Palin has raised this for the reasons I would like, and they are this:
The media decides what are legitimate questions, and brands anybody that asks something they have defined as politically incorrect as “fringe” (we see this also with diismissing people as climate-deniers, tea baggers). She points out this is both not democratic and is hypocritical given her own experience with trig-truthers.
I think she has a good argument, but is on dangerous ground given the media built-up emotions surrounding “birthers”. Hence her follow-up post.
Spot on. I think the original statement, and ESPECIALLY the Facebook post heading this thread, are extremely savvy responses on multiple levels. I think she is being wonderfully inscrutable in her Facebook post! I think that that kind of skill indicates that she would indeed be an excellent player in foreign policy if POTUS.
Will, although I absolutely agree with Palin's approach on this, I hold with JoSix in that it certainly IS an issue that bugs a whole helluva lot of Americans; in my anecdotal experience, it especially bugs Americans who are not political junkies, but just regular folks. It's often the very first thing I hear from non-junkies when Obama comes up and they express their doubts about him.
Personally, I think the more telling and therefore crucial records are his college records, and for political reporters to have failed to DEMAND to see them indicates professional malpractice on the part of journalism, but again, I'm a political junkie; I think the birth certificate issue resonates on a solid gut level with -- yes -- MOST Americans. And that's a good thing.
