Huffington Post Suffers ClimateGate Panic Attack
NewsBusters ^ | December 2, 2009 | P.J. Gladnick

Your humble correspondent has been checking the Huffington Post Green section every day since the ClimateGate scandal exploded. After all, that Green section is pretty much predicated on the theory that the earth is warming dangerously and that Man is the cause of it. At first, the Green section had a few relatively minor stories attempting to dispute the revelations of the ClimateGate scandal. However, today the Huffington Post went into a complete panic mode on this topic. Bigtime.

The Green section now features a huge story at the top of the page by Katherine Goldstein which features a slideshow supposedly exposing "The 7 Biggest Lies About the 'Global Warming Hoax'." However, even many of their own readers aren't buying the lame excuses presented as you will see here.

So let us now join the Huffington Post Green section as irritation is expressed over the term "ClimateGate" as they wish it to be replaced by "SwiftHack":

Hey, Huff Post! Your beloved leftist media tried to expose the fraud that is Al Gore YEARS ago and you didn’t listen!
Pay attention, ya’ll.

The Inconvenient Truth Al Gore Hopes You Forget!

So, I wake up this morning to hear Al Gore has won an Oscar for trying to save the world!

Then I went out and shoveled 18” of his global warming out of my driveway.

First question: Why didn’t he do anything to try to save the environment during his 8 years as Vice President and how many years as a senator?

Some say the Vice President has no power, can’t make policy, blah, blah.

Next question: Then why was he able to pull off selling one of our few oil reserves at Elk Hills in California to his big oil buddies at the expense of the environment and fuel reserves. This story was widely reported, but that was 10 years ago. How soon we forget.

http://www.corpwatch.org/article.php?id=468

[snip]Occidental’s planned drilling of the Elk Hills doesn’t only threaten the memory of the Kitanemuk [Indian tribe}. Environmentalists say a rare species of fox, lizard and the kangaroo rat would also be threatened by Oxy’s plans. A lawsuit has been filed under the Endangered Species Act. But none of that has given pause to Occidental or the politician who helped engineer the sale of the drilling rights to the federally-owned Elk Hills. That politician is Al Gore.

Gore recommended that the Elk Hills be sold as part of his 1995 “Reinventing Government” National Performance Review program. Gore-confidant (and former campaign manager) Tony Cohelo served on the board of directors of the private company hired to assess the sale’s environmental consequences. The sale was a windfall for Oxy. Within weeks of the announced purchase Occidental stock rose ten percent.

That was good news for Gore. Despite controversy over Dick Cheney’s plans to keep stock options if elected, most Americans don’t know that we already have a vice president with oil company stocks. Before the Elk Hills sale, Al Gore controlled between $250,000-$500,000 of Occidental stock (he is executor of a trust that he says goes only to his mother, but will revert to him upon her death). After the sale, Gore began disclosing between $500,000 and $1 million of his significantly more valuable stock.

Nowhere is Al Gore’s environmental hypocrisy more glaring than when it comes to his relationship with Occidental. While on the one hand talking tough about his “big oil” opponents and waxing poetic about indigenous peoples in his 1992 book “Earth in the Balance,” the Elk Hills sale and other deals show that money has always been more important to Al Gore than ideals.

"This evidence is cherry-picked, Your Honor. So what if my client killed his Mom with an axe one morning? The other 364 days of the year he was a perfect citizen!"

The Climate Comrades are certainly going to try, but they can't really spin this one. BTT.

www.hopenhagen.org links to and is linked on Huffington post Green. The blog there has NO pro-AGW posts that I could find, even the lonely thread on climategate.

Swifthack? And like the Swiftboat Vets, the attacks will be on the messenger because they can’t defend the findings!

Oh, and one other thing....they would have us believe that they meant an alternate meaning when they used the word “trick” and I can go for that. What they really meant when they said they would do a “trick” was that they would screw us for money.

Almost got away with it, too...

Depends on the meaning of the word "is"...

The funny thing is that the "trick" e-mail is not even close to the most damning evidence, just the evidence that that average J6P might best understand as outright fraud.

There is strong consensus in scientific community that global warming is real and is caused by humans. The top scientists in the world have just released a new report on the realities of global warming. Kevin Grandia summarizes some of the key points about emissions, melting ice sheets, and rising sea levels. The emails don't change any of this reality.

Ask Kevin this question for me, "Does your summary of AGW's key points depend almost exclusively on data and research gleaned from East Anglia - CRU?"

I thought so...

I found a CRU thread on HuffPo six days ago and plenty of the HuffPo readers were quite frisky and rebellious. Not swallowing the party line. I did not see censorship so that was good

Stassinopolis is a mega-greenie so she is having brain lock right now.

I can predict the fall back position and it will be we need alternative energy so we are not at the mercy of the Ay-Rabs. My reply will be -— “We have a few centuries worth of coal and doing great with new natural gas discoveries so lets get going and start drilling and digging”
