James Fallows is spot on when he notes the contrast with President George W. Bush, who has "maintained a dignified distance from public controversies and let the new team have its chance...."

Bush should have been speaking up against the rampant socialism destroying our country all along. Instead he remains silent due to some unwritten protocol is a farce. Bush's silence is tantamount to condoning socialism.

Cheney managed to (temporarily) grab the spotlight when he told Politico that the commander in chief was weak and letting politics affect his military decisions....

Obomas speech proved his point. Cheney was right (again).

Cheney is RIGHT!

“Here's a guy without much experience, who campaigned against much of what we put in place ... and who now travels around the world apologizing,” Cheney said. “I think our adversaries — especially when that's preceded by a deep bow ... — see that as a sign of weakness.”

...

“It is December, and in less than a year Cheney now represents a good deal of mainstream thinking, both in the Beltway and among ordinary Americans. That’s how far we’ve come. Meanwhile, Obama is increasingly seen as ideologically misguided and temperamentally at a loss to deal with the plethora of international challenges, which will only increase as a worldwide audience takes in his haphazard performance.”

I don't know whether Cheney could have have put it any better.

Me neither.

To think this is coming from a CBS NEWS BLOG is mindbogglingly! Perhaps the tide is turning AGAINST the evil one? Obama reminds me of Ahab and Michele as Jezebel .... only MORE EVIL.

re: Cheney’s looking more partisan with each headline

Really bugs them when our side uses a bit of their own tactics against them! Every word that comes out of their lying mouths drips with partisanship. It's their weapon of choice.

Cheney is right. Any “leader” who doesn’t have the GUTS or the ONIONS to take the fight to the terrorist who slaughtered 3000 Americans is weak or worse, sympathetic to the “Muslim Cause”.

Vice Presidents, far more than Presidents, are ‘Party Men’. Presidents have to get elected; VP’s really don’t figure in that equation. Calling Cheyney ‘partisan’ is no more of a revelation than describing Al Gore, or Walter Mondale the same way. It’s technically accurate, and it’s not News.

This is the problem with never choosing to watch or read articles written by members of the MSM.

You wind up asking these questions:

1. Who is Charles Cooper?

2. Who is Charles Johnson?

3. Who is Jennifer Rubin?

If I didn't read the article, I would have guessed that the first two were suspects in a violent crime and the third was there defense attorney.

Problem is the Obama team keeps on dropping the ball, running the WRONG way for the touchdown and repeatedly misses the field goal.

CBS, a propaganda wing of the red sons of bitches in the WH and on Capitol Hill, tried to use forged documents to topple a GOP POTUS.

On September 8, 2004, Dan Rather cited “exclusive information, including documents” to justify major CBS Evening News and 60 Minutes stories alleging that George W. Bush shirked his duties when he was in the Texas Air National Guard in the 1960s and 1970s. Within a few hours of those documents being posted on CBS News’s Web site, however, typography experts voiced skepticism that the documents had actually originated with their alleged author and Bush’s former commanding officer, the late Lt. Colonel Jerry Killian. As the evidence mounted, Rather stubbornly clung to the idea that his story was bulletproof, and he derided critics as partisans and Internet rumormongers. When he “apologized” on September 20, Rather would not concede that the documents were forgeries, only that he and CBS could “no longer vouch for their authenticity.”

CBS Disregarded Experts, Challenged Laura Bush: ABC’s Brian Ross reported on the September 14 World News Tonight that “two experts hired by CBS News say the network ignored concerns they raised prior to the broadcast about the disputed National Guard records.” But over on CBS, reporter John Roberts wondered why President Bush wasn’t taking those memos seriously: “The President has yet to weigh in on new documents about his National Guard record made public last week by 60 Minutes.” Roberts also chastised First Lady Laura Bush for doubting CBS’s memos were authentic: “Laura Bush offered no evidence to back up her claim, and CBS News continues to stand by its reporting.”

Sticking By His Smear: On September 10, Dan Rather responded to charges the memos he cited as proving Bush’s dereliction were forged, telling his CBS Evening News audience that the memos were genuine and attacking any doubters as partisan rumor-mongers. “Today, on the Internet and elsewhere, some people, including many who are partisan political operatives, concentrated not on the key questions of the overall story, but on the documents that were part of the support of the story,” Rather castigated. But his lame defense ignored key challenges to the documents’ typography and content, and the doubts voiced by the widow and son of the supposed author, the late Lt. Col. Jerry Killian. Instead, Rather chose to repeat his indictment of President Bush’s National Guard service. Rather arrogantly concluded: “If any definitive evidence to the contrary of our story is found, we will report it. So far there is none.” (CyberAlert, September 11, 2004)

Payback is coming CBS, one day soon.

REAL American Patriots who love our country and the principles upon which it was founded are speaking out about the socialist gang of thugs in the White House!

In my book anyone who stands by quietly and lets America slowly slip away are just as treasonous as Zero.

OK a liberal writer at a liberal website, CBS.com, criticizes Cheney. This isn’t news!

Why are you calling everybody’s attention to it.

Why aren’t you reading newspapers, blogs and websites that praise Cheney and posting those so that we all will know the facts and the truth rather than Cooper’s netherworld.

Is it that you would rather hate liberals than like conservatives?

Please explain this mentality because I don’t understand why my newspaper, which wrote pro-Bush, pro-military, pro-law enforcement, pro-conservative, pro-Palin, pro-average working class American articles in an intelligent entertaining way rarely was posted to FR.

Yet I’ll read all sorts of garbage from the NY Times, WaPost, LA Times, et al and from people like Cooper, Hershberg, Krugman and the rest posted here.

It is not because you think it’s important to know what the opposition is thinking. Because we already know that. What we seem to lack is what our side is thinking. Because most conservatives I hear talking to liberals in cafe’s, bars, restaurants, at parties etc cannot clearly defend the lies from the left.

I don’t mean to sound hostile. My regrets if I do. I’m just completely befuddled by an attitude which prefers to be outraged by leftist propaganda then informed by conservative newspapers.

Cheney is a real Patriot... Bush was a go along to get along pol just like his daddy... never defending himself or those supporting him and his decisions, when their butts were on the line too... and Cheney was the gate keeper for Bush... it is natural that he speaks out against the worst president in our history... while Bush keeps his tacit approval of communism and socialism in play with his inherited need to remain silent and of no consequence in the reality of today... yes... I am angry with Bush... he let me down on many fronts over the years... I never once let him down. Cheney and his wife BOTH speak to my mind and my heart! BTW... every living dim president and vp constantly attack Republicans of every shape and form... never a question or admonishment from any "journalist" for doing so either.

Just why the ex-VP keeps popping off remains full-time fodder for the media,

The ex-democrat presidents/vice-presidents have made this a routine happening. (clinton, carter, gore etc.)

Why is the media so concerned about Cheney?

Just why the ex-VP keeps popping off remains full-time fodder for the media, but Cheney's looking more partisan with each headline that he makes.

Lots of people disagree with BO, Charles Cooper. Get used to it.
