When you think of Canada, which qualities come to mind? The world's peacekeeper, the friendly nation, a liberal counterweight to the harsher pieties of its southern neighbour, decent, civilised, fair, well-governed? Think again. This country's government is now behaving with all the sophistication of a chimpanzee's tea party. So amazingly destructive has Canada become, and so insistent have my Canadian friends been that I weigh into this fight, that I've broken my self-imposed ban on flying and come to Toronto.

Until now I believed that the nation that has done most to sabotage a new climate change agreement was the United States. I was wrong. The real villain is Canada. Unless we can stop it, the harm done by Canada in December 2009 will outweigh a century of good works....Canada now threatens the wellbeing of the world....The tar barons have held the nation to ransom. This thuggish petro-state is today the greatest obstacle to a deal in Copenhagen.
Go Canada. Thanks to Mark Steyn for
this one.

Anything that pisses Monbiot off, I’m for. My congratulations, Canada!

Canada is probably the least offensive country on earth. What set this loon off? Oh, I guess it must be their conservative govt.

it’s that they won’t commit fiscal suicide by shutting-down their oil industry for the sake of a global climate deal

Read the emails, Moonbat. Canada isn't endangering anyone. It's the science fraud you believe in that endangers our economy.

Apparently the leftis doing all they can to overlook the fact that the global climate change facts just aren’t and were being manipulated? Do they realize hw stupid they look in insisting that it is fake but acurate?

Congratulations Canada. .You have canned the enviro religion and have decided to protect Canada’s industries.
And what if there is a mess, in the tar sands area? Take a look at the area concerned comapared to the rest of Canada that is completely pristine. That will give one an accurate picture of proportion. The area cooncerned is a dot in the rest of the countries pristine resources. And no talk from him on startegic importance of oil? OOoooops? Did he just leave it out?
I love to hear enviroweenies whine in the morning.

It is now clear that Canada will refuse to be sanctioned for abandoning its legal obligations. I'd say Canada is on the path to wisdom.
