MYFOXNY.COM - Nassau County Executive Tom Suozzi trails his Republican challenger by 377 votes after a countywide recount ended, according to sources.

The final tally came to 122,471 votes for county legislator Edward Mangano, to 122,094 for Suozzi, a two-term incumbent who once challenged Eliot Spitzer for the nomination for governor.

However, the election will not be certified until 500 ballots are re-examined and 400 to 450 disputed ballots are presented to a judge later this week.

Suozzi has said he is not inclined to back a request by some of his supporters who want him to seek an entirely new election because of possible vote discrepancies, the AP reported.

New York City is bordered by NJ to the West, Westchester County to the North, Nassau County to the East, and the Atlantic to the south. If Mangano wins, the top elected official in each jurisdiction will be a Republican.

Oh, well—if it’s only a thousand then those “ballots” are sure to turn up in the trunk of an ACORN election official.

Nassau is screwed no matter who sits in the County Seat. We are a ticking time bomb similar to Orange County in the nineties.

Little reported Obama negative coattails with a totally unexpected upset of a leading NY Democrat.

Well, just enough to make up the 377 vote difference. Isn’t that nice! Convenient too.

The Dem behind narrowly with uncounted ballots. Probably some ballots will turn up in a car trunk, or maybe the bottom of a terrarium tank guarded by snakes. What ever it takes to overtake the few hundred GOP lead.

I haven’t been around there for a while, but the Nassau County Republican Machine used to cheat just like Democrats, until the voters finally tired of their corruption and threw them out, some years ago. Frankly, at this point we need a few Republican machines to counter the Democrats. Since we can’t seem to do anything about the endemic Democrat cheating.

I grew up in Nassau County and keep up with the politics of the area. Suozzi was considered the “next coming’. It will be quite a triumph for the Republicans to take away from him.

Me too, I grew up in Merrick. Frankly, I’m a little conflicted on this one. Suozzi has been a big supporter of the Lighthouse Project and as a die-hard Islander fan I can’t stomach the thought of their moving if the project falls through.

And please people, the project is mostly privately funded, so don’t start flaming! He seemed to be more of a growth oriented Dem, so he wasn’t the worst of the bunch.

On the other hand, anything that reflects badly on Obama is okay by me!!!
