RICHLAND Sarah Palin didnt wait to get inside Hastings bookstore this morning to greet the thousands of people whod stood in line for hours to meet her.
On the drive to her scheduled book signing at the 1425 George Washington Way store, Palin made an impromptu stop along Jadwin Avenue and Torbett Street to thank her fans. She walked along the street for at least 15 minutes shaking hands and posing for pictures, while carrying her young son Trig.
We were stoked. It was worth the drive, said Katie McGuire-Forbes.
She and daughter Raechel McGuire left Troy, Idaho, at 5:45 a.m. in the hopes of getting Palins autograph on their copy of Going Rogue: An American Life.
They never expected to have a brief exchange with the former Alaska governor and 2008 Republican vice presidential candidate. Palin, a 1987 graduate of the University of Idaho, gave her approval to McGuires Vandals sweatshirt.
I got to shake Sarah Palins hand. That was awesome. And her baby is so cute, I just want to kiss his face, McGuire-Forbes said just a minute after meeting the best-selling author. That will make it that much better if I cant get my book signed.
Palin has been in the Tri-Cities since Wednesday evening, visiting relatives over the Thanksgiving holiday. She resumed her nationwide book tour with the appearance at Hastings and signed books for more than 3 hours.
Fans started camping out at 10 a.m. Saturday to be guaranteed a chance to see Palin.

Lots of neat people up in the tri-cities of Washington ;-)
Sarah is a master of Retail politics because she’s real unlike Obama who is now appears so much like the old political establishment where his word appears hollow and cold....
How many copies did Stretch’s book sell? (Excluding any truckloads purchased by SEIU, the Teamsters, etc.)
Nice pictures. Where is Richland? Looks like a nice place. Seattle was nice not that long ago.
“How many copies did Stretchs book sell?”
Dreams From my Father sold approx 700,000
Audacity of Hype sold approx 800,000
Combined approx 1.5 million.
Palin’s book had sold over 700,000 as of last Friday or Saturday, so I’m guessing it’s over 1 million by now.
Considering the constant hyping of both of 0bama’s books during the campaign you would think that they would have sold a lot more copies by now.
I doubt if there is any other political leader, including 0bama himself, who inspires so much devotion. You can bet that Huck, Newt, Tim, Mitt and anyone else considering a run in 2012 is paying close attention to the huge, enthusiastic crowds, and the book sales. None of them can compete with her on those two levels. It’s doubtful that any of them could compete with her in the area of raising money or volunteers. In other words, Palin’s going to be tough to beat if things keep going they way they’re going now.
Following all the reports I can find on Sarah’s book tour and I’m beginning to worry about her right hand. That much hand shaking and writing is brutal on the hand. Also, I hope that when her book tour is finished that she will take a long break in Alaska. She is a dynamo, but we don’t want her to get “overexposed”. She needs to keep people wanting to see more of her. Recall how we waited in anticipation for her to finish the book and get back out in the public arena? Too much of her and the magic might begin to wear thin. Don’t want that to happen. She’s on a roll right now.
She was using her left hand quite often today, while she wasn’t holding Trig.
I wouldn’t be surprised. All this may be too much for her poor hands. She is trying to do too much. I pray for her.
Stretch=Pelosi
In that case, Pelosi’s book sold about 5,000 total.
