A Saturday rally led by anti-war activist Cindy Sheehan at Travis Air Force Base nearly ended in a brawl when a military veteran physically confronted the protesters.
Anti-war group Code Pink demonstrated at the military base Saturday morning in the first of six planned protests against unmanned military drones currently in use in overseas war zones.
Sheehan, a well-known anti-war activist whose son was killed while serving in Iraq in 2004, was leading the demonstration with a megaphone when a man dressed in a formal military uniform stepped up to her and berated her.
Videotape of the incident shows that Sheehan yelled "Get out of my face" through the megaphone at the man, who slapped the device away. Other protesters immediately joined Sheehan and traded insults with the man, and a shoving match broke out.
Military police quickly pulled the two sides apart.

The military veteran told reporters that he was upset with the anti-war protesters' effect on troop morale. "They ruin the troops. They get to the troops. They did the same thing in Vietnam," he said.
The man declined to give his name to reporters. "I don't want to be a personality over this, that's not my intention," he said.
Sheehan told reporters that she was disappointed her protest against what she called "morally reprehensible" military drones was interrupted by the man.
"We are here non-violently, and he came up and shoved the megaphone into my face," she said. "I'm never going to stop, no matter how we're oppressed."
Sheehan said she would be speaking to an attorney about legal action against the man.
Code Pink protester Xan Joy, who physically confronted the man during the incident, called the man a "bully" and said his behavior was meant to intimidate the protesters.
"He should be so happy and grateful that there are people in this country that are trying to protect him and his children and everybody's children from war," Joy said.
The events of the day did not end when the protesters packed up and left. When part of Code Pink's caravan paused in the middle of the road, Sheehan was given a ticket for impeding traffic.
"I got assaulted by this old man and I'm the one given a ticket. So, yeah, it's bulls***," Sheehan said.
Several members of Code Pink said they wanted charges filed against the man in uniform, but no arrests were made.
Speaking of Code Pink :
OCTOBER 23, 2009 : (REPORT : OBAMA FUNDRAISER JODIE EVANS OF CODE PINK MET WITH TALIBAN - RECENTLY) ...Top Obama donor and fundraiser Jodie Evans met with the Taliban in Afghanistan on a recent trip there, according to a report by Jane Fonda of a discussion she had with Evans last month. The meeting with the Taliban took place just weeks before Evans was videotaped directly handing to President Barack Obama a package of information about her trip to Afghanistan at a high dollar fundraiser in San Francisco.
The meeting with the Taliban was kept secret by Evans and her group Code Pink in reports she and the group posted from Kabul and in interviews with the media and bloggers about the trip. Fonda, a close friend of Evans, let the secret meeting slip in an account of her dinner with Evans at a fundraiser for the Armand Hammer Museum in Los Angeles:
Last Saturday, My dear friends Jodie Evans and Max Palevsky, invited Richard and me to join them at their table at a fundraiser at the Armand Hammer Museum in Westwood. It was a good evening for lots of reasons. I had never been to the museum and definitely want to go back. Clearly it is a courageous place, very cutting edge. Then, too, I saw lots of friends I hadnt seen in a long time and I sat next to Jodie who told me a little about her recent trip to Afghanistan with an American delegation that included a retired colonel, and member the State Department (Army Reserves Col. (Ret.) and ex-diplomat Ann Wright). While there, she met with people ranging from the brother of President Karzai, Afghan members of Parliament, activists, to warlords and members of the Taliban (emphasis added.) Jodie is co-founder of the peace organization, Code Pink, and always willing to go to any lengths to try and find out whats really going on.There is precedent to suspect that Evans is acting as a conduit for the Taliban to Obama. In June, her fellow Code Pink co-founder Medea Benjamin hand carried a letter out of Gaza from the terrorist group Hamas addressed to Obama.
Bottom line: everyone she met with wants the U.S. Military out of their country. They feel our presence there has brought more violence rather than security. Please read a short article she wrote about the trip which is on the Womens Media Center website.
This reply was hard for me to type without being able to see the keys! Thamks for your service, Sir!
This is just beyond my capacity to even digest. I watched the Veteran. I did NOT watch the shehag interview. This late at night, I would have nightmares.
GOD bless the MAN who fought for our freedom. The look on his face spoke louder than his words.
How can ANYONE be so disrespectful to the men and women who have kept this, and practically every other country in the world, free?
I will never understand it in a million years.
GOD BLESS OUR TROOPS.
The never ending story — by the time she graduates she’ll be drolling.
(has anyone done a psych exam on this woman? She dumps her kids and family and and hits the trail. A mother she wasn’t, treated her son as just a media moment. Another fruitcake bent on destroying America.)
Michael Moore and Cindy Sheehan should be deported. Well, maybe they should marry and program 911 into their prepaid cell phones.
It’s just irritates the you know what out of me that there aren’t people like us counter-protesting her sorry arse. Maybe that Vet knows in his heart that she is the minority..I pray he does. Maybe it’s not necessary to counter-protest. I don’t know. God Bless him for giving her a lesson about freedom and supporting troops.
He not only joined, he reenlisted. THAT’s what drove her nuts. He wanted nothing to do with her.
Never heard of that.
I agree, I think she went nuts too. But she is a lefty, no doubt, she has democrat written all over her face. She is a genetic democrat as far as I can tell.
Whatever the case, she needs to stop her dishonorable behavior. She is making a complete fool of her self, and she is insulting and angering honorable and decent men and women.
She is. What I don’t know if is she is aware that she is?
Have a heart, shes on the road doing stuff like this while the rest of us are enjoying the holidays with family. Ill give props to the veterans who are out counter-protesting when they could be watching football on TV instead. Cindy has no family to go back to, they all disowned her years ago. Cindy will really regret her actions when shes too old to be doing this crap anymore and has nowhere to go. I may be wrong, but I dont think Code Pink is running an old-protesters home.
I just don’t know what to say. She lost her son, sacrificed her family to hang out with commies etc... She has no sympathy for me, and I’m sure she and her code pinko buddies will be taking care of each other when they get old, sitting in rocking chairs talking about the good old days. :-p Pukes.
“I do not post much, but I am here always.”
Then you know we love you. We honor you and thank you every single day. Every single day.
Welcome Home. Thank you for your service.
That photo is amazing.
It pretty much captures our time, does it not?
It sure is a great time to be a communist, or an enemy of the United States. They are finding it hard to contain their glee of late, I’m certain.
I’m still wondering if there are Americans who will fight back against this. So far, it’s been a shut-out.
I never cared to pay attention to her let alone research her background. I knew her name, heard that she protested because she lost a son. I had no idea he basically disowned her.
Go military. Cindy, judgment day is coming beatch.
TOO BAD it wasn’t 1000 military vets MOPPING THE STREET with Code Skank.
Those code pinkos are vile. They pushed me and my family off the sidewalk once.
So why not protest at the White House? Huh? HUH? Those soldiers serve at the whim of the Commander in Chief. Oh wait, Cindy can’t protest there, she’s already on the guest list!
Cindy who?
Cindy who?
