Free Republic does not and will not support RINOS!! Not now!! Not ever!!
My day after Thanksgiving message | 11/26/200 | Jim Robinson

Posted on 11/26/2009 9:55:25 PM PST by Jim Robinson

Apparently there are still some posters on FR who are fast asleep. Wake up! Dammit! We are in the middle of a conservative rebellion! While you were sleeping we, along with millions of other freedom loving grassroots Americans have participated in hundreds of tea parties all across this great land and fully intend to keep it up until all of America is awake. We are fed up and mad as hell! We grassroots Americans are delivering a message to the ruling class: NO MORE!!

No more big government! No more high taxes! No more government bailouts! No more government takeovers! No government healthcare! No more corruption! No more global baloneyism!!

We're sick and tired of liberals and RINOs running roughshod over our God given Liberty!

We want our country back! We want our freedom back! We want it all back!!

No more socialism!!

Cut the taxes! Cut the spending! Cut the government!

Restore the constitutional limits on government! Restore our freedom!!

And not only no, but HELL NO to liberals and RINOS!!

Free Republic will not support RINOS!! Rudy McRomney, et al, can go straight to hell!!

The strategy is we win, they lose.

Any questions?

I think perhaps we're talking about two different things.

If someone wants to have a say in who selects certain candidates in NY, they need to get themselves elected to county conventions, etc. I do not know the process in NY but here it is not difficult at all.

My point is to get involved in the process and then YOU will have an effect on it and stop criticizing everyone else.

Funny, when the R’s were the majority, didn’t stop the RINOs from voting with the Dems.

One thing they don't tell ya around here is that, one-by-one, eventually all Republicans are given the dreaded RINO label.

Unfortunately, I think you're correct. This is ridiculous. I think I should just abandon the whole thing. I've worked in the lawmaking world for many years. I've known the frustrations of working with RINOs but I also know they are a necessary evil if conservatives want to have any chance to advance any kind of a conservative agenda. It's like making sausage, for sure.

This is a true story, and I cannot think of a better analogy.
I have a very dear friend in another country who lives very much alone except for his dog. He loves that dog very much. He also has diabetes.
Almost a year ago, his feet and legs began to swell to outlandish proportions. Nothing he did helped. He needed to be hospitalised, but there was no one to take care of his dog. He insisted it would be okay. I heard him say it a million times.
As time went by, his legs got worse and worse. His skin began cracking and bleeding. He was in constant pain, but no matter how much I begged him to go to the hospital, he would NOT leave his dog and he kept insisting he could not afford a kennel even for a few days.
Then a wound, literally a hole, opened up on his foot. He could not walk. He was living on painkillers, taking more and more as his pain got worse. But he STILL would not leave his dog.
His wound began turning black. He was vomiting constantly. He could not sit up and he could not lay down. He still would not leave his dog.
Finally, after almost a year, his sister who lives hundreds of miles away, paid him a surprise visit. When she saw what was happening, she went into action and got him the best care she could manage.
For the past two months, daily visits from home nurses have managed, with great care and patience, to medicate and clean out the infection and dead tissue in his foot. The wound remains open as we speak.
He was (fingersnap,)this close to not only losing his foot, AND his dog, but quite possibly, his life.
His loyalty to his dog, while admirable on the surface, was an excuse to DO NOTHING to help himself. He has neighbors who could have cared for the dog, but he didn't want her left outside. He had found a kennel close by, but then said he couldn't find any transportation to get the dog there. He made arrangements twice to enter the hospital, but his dog developed a wart or something on her foot that needed removed, so he put off the hospital.
Had his sister NOT shown up when she did, I am absolutely sure both he AND the dog would be dead now.

To make a long story short, THIS is the republican party as it exists today. We have waited and waited thinking that doing the same things over and over would heal it even as it got worse and worse before our eyes. Even as it filled up with dead tissue and became gangrenous. Loyalty to our "dog" has nearly cost us its life. Everyone was saying, (and believing,) that Conservatism was dead, including mister newt. Even Rush, bless him, could not rouse us.
Then along came Sarah, the sister from hundreds of miles away to pay us a surprise visit. And she has supplied the common sense medicine we needed as no one has for decades.
Say what you will, whether she runs, whether she doesn't, she brought us a different way of looking at things. She took on her own party giants and like David, she whupped Goliath in front of GOD and everyone. She didn't back down. She said no more of this crap and corruption. She is still saying it, and WE are saying it too.
WE are saying it loud and clear. The dead tissue that corrupts the body MUST be exised lest the body die, and with it, everything that this country has ever stood for. Even the worst Sarah basher on the planet recognises what she has done, and make no mistake, it WAS her, and her alone, who brought this thing to a head.
Now they say she engenders fear within the party, but I say it isn't JUST Sarah they fear. It's US and we ARE the "party." See, Sarah was alone when she came, but she is not alone anymore. Not by a long shot. All she did was say out loud what we all knew but did not have the guts to act upon.
Well, it's all different now. And we will NOT back down.

Wonderful analogy. Unfortunately, too many, as shown here, are wed to failure. Since you’ve used a dog analogy, there’s another that comes to mind. You can’t teach an old dog new tricks.

Then they are part of the problem, aren’t they?
If they want to continue to take the ship down, they are the enemy within and need to be thrown overboard. Some of the nastiness on this thread is pure sharkbait anyway.

Well, we (Californians) in most cases have been voting for the RINO candidate for the last 20 years or so. The RINO candidate has always been that "stopgap" in lieu of the elusive "true conservative" we desire.....only because they are the better alternative to the pro-socialist Democrats who are steadily marching ever leftward.

The reality is we haven't gotten anywhere voting for the so-called RINO candidate. They either lose the election to the liberal Democrat or we are still drifting leftward under their watch (e.g. Arnold Schwarzenegger). The only bright spot I have is living in Duncan Hunter's district.

But we keep voting for them because they aren't Democrats. To be fair to everyone on this thread....on this site...it is getting very troubling and outright exasperating. I too, am tired of voting for the lesser of the two evils. I admit I do not have answers. Particularly about our situation here in California where we may never have a conservative run and get elected. But, I share in Jim Robinson's sentiments and frustrations about RINO candidates.

This is assured, I will not cast a vote for a RINO governor or senator from a liberal state for the Officer of the President of the United States. I am drawing the line in the sand right there.

There are powerful forces including left wingers and business interests that are into “climate change” as an issue.

They buy politicians with campaign contributions. The business “green” crowd buys RINO’s who will talk anti-climate change fraud, then get elected and vote “green” anyway.

Its a slow death of freedom with liberal Republicans or a faster one with Obama. That’s my gut feeling and conviction right now.

I watched the Canadian experience with the “Reform Party” splitting votes in the 1990’s.

The “Progressive Conservative Party” had rich money people supporting it, but not the mass of people at the grassroots.

They couldn’t elect a dozen people to the parliament, while the Reformers could elect 60. Of course the Liberals won nearly 200 seats and dominated for a decade.

Canada survived although a lot of freedom was lost.

Obama is scary, but no authentic opposition to him is even scarier.

Until Republicans repudiate “bipartisanship” and stop any cooperation with the Democrats on any issue including pork for their home districts, things are not going to change.

Scary emotional “wedge” issues like Karl Rove used to elect GWB won’t work with me anymore. So don’t use the fear of Obama to cause me to support phony Republicans.

The reality is we haven't gotten anywhere voting for the so-called RINO candidate. They either lose the election to the liberal Democrat or we are still drifting leftward under their watch (e.g. Arnold Schwarzenegger).

Therein lies the rub. The public sees no sense in voting for the liberal wannabe so the vote for the known liberal. Or, they see the GOP as offering no alternative so they vote 3rd party, or stay home. OTOH, when GOP RINOs do get voted into office it's because their opposition wasn't as resourceful as they, or it was a heavily Republican district and people voted party line.

Then, when in office they take the election result as a mandate when it was anything but. Repetition after repetition, we go along for years then wonder why we've reached the point we have. And when we cry 'Wolf!', we're accused of hindering Republican gains. Well, if that's what I'm to be branded with, sign me up.

Who are the “real conservative” ones??????

I think of one Republican from PA (Joe Pitts) in Congress and DeMint and Coburn in the Senate.

There are 40 good ones in the House and a very few in the Senate.

The rest are kabuki dancing politicians who have no convictions.

Grandma: People might listen to any points you have to make if you’d quit screaming! Just because you scream at someone to only vote R doesn’t make then do it. It actually turns them off.

I know. I thought of that post from yesterday when I wrote what I did. But that plea to back off merely gave her license to spew. And spew, and spew. There's nothing of value or redemption in it; just contempt for anyone who doesn't agree with her myopic view of politics. She's a one-note-samba, and Cedric's a manipulator. Neither has anything worthwhile to say.

Not if they’re voting for the exact same thing the Democrats are. Then what does it really matter what they have after their name.

I am the total opposite of you - I’d vote for a blue dog over a liberal R anyday. Then when it comes down to the vote, hopefully they’ll vote their conscience. At least that’s how it works in theory - problem is they’re so damn crooked now that I don’t know if politicians - any of them - have a conscience. Well, maybe a few but so many can be bought.

Now we’re being patronized to as a ‘very unsophisticated group’ in #1754. This just goes to show how uninterested these people are in changing minds. They merely want to use this thread as a platform for derision. That’s psychopathic behavior.
