Police in Wisconsin are trying to determine why a Minneapolis cab driver jumped from his cab before it crashed, and why his passenger ran from the scene.
Baldwin police say a Blue and White cab crashed into a light pole and then hit a parked car in the Greenfield Elementary School parking lot around 6:40 p.m. Sunday.
Responding officers found the driver, Abdi Mohamed Askar, 38, lying on the sidewalk.
People who witnessed the crash followed the passenger when he ran away. Police caught up with him two blocks away and arrested him for leaving the scene of an accident.
The investigation has led police to believe the cab was speeding before the crash. They also believe Askar jumped from the moving vehicle before it hit the light pole.
They don't know why. Askar is in critical condition at Regions Hospital in St. Paul. He's unconscious and therefore unable to answer investigators' questions.
Investigators do know that Askar picked up the fare in Minneapolis.
Investigators plan to search his cab Wednesday.
A company supervisor at Blue and White Taxi in Minneapolis described Askar as a mild-mannered, polite driver.
Nothing hot as of yet....
Just a heads-up.
Yep, he's from Minnesota.
Well, we can’t all be Johnsons and Petersons....
Aww, too bad...
I'm sick of this sh*t.
Another one bites the dust
Or maybe bites the pavement
What is interesting in this story is WHY the cabbie jumped out of the speeding vehicle and why has the unidentified passenger been cuffed and stuffed.
And.....why was this hack hired in MPLS and driven to Baldwin, WI.???
It's probably because he was uncomfortable with that gun pointed at his head. Explains everything.
2) Hit on by a gay
3) Carried a bottle of booze onboard
4) Carried a pig or a slab of bacon onboard
5) Criticized Obama

Cheers!
Minneap-istan? Cabbie?
Sudden jihad syndrome?... just saying.
Well...yes...we’re creeping up on a story that has yet to become clear.
I’m going to go out on a limb and declare that this is a potential Somali-on-Somali crime...
(Somebody was taken for their last ride for ratting on the brothers)
Stay Tuned!!!
Usually, Somali cab drivers go to driving schools that favor Somalis. These driving schools are notorious for spitting out drivers that can’t drive nor know the driving rules. I constantly have to watch out for “Mohammed’s 2 hour driving school” grads when I’m on the bike lane (Their grads have no concept of a “bike lane”) or else I’d be flattened.
TZN....
After a ride of my life to MSP in the past year.....I’ve made other plans with friends and family to get me to the airport....
Thank you ButThreeLeftsDo for the ping.
In the past month I rode in cabs driven by a Bulgarian, Nigerian, Ghanan and a Pakistani. They all seemed to have attended the Bob Bondurant school of driving but at least the Nigerian knew where he was going. I also liked the Scion xB he was driving - more rear leg room than most of the Crown Vics.

Like I said...We don’t know where this is headed....
But...
There must be a reason for this nonsense....
More...as it plays out.
Prayers for the cab driver and his recovery.
