Is this true? "The State Dept is secretly negotiating to give Alasakan islands to Russia"

Posted on 11/23/2009 8:06:06 AM PST by MelSmith

This is from a direct-mail fundraising piece from "StateDepartmentWatch.org". They say that the current congress "will decide the fate of eight strategically and economically vital islands in Alaska...and the U.S. will get nothing in return."

This is the first that I've heard this claim and I don't know if it's valid.

Murkowski?

Ah, is that before Palin was the Gov.?

Sky high price of $50 a barrel for oil?

Perhaps your tip is dated.

Doesn’t make sense. We owe more to China. That’s where to look for an “in-kind” transaction that cleans up our balance sheet while atoning for our imperialist past.

My MIL has been getting that one in the mail for several years, and they used to throw Condi under the bus for it. Not sure of it’s validity other than that.

Why don’t you ping the Alaska freepers?

It refers to Wrangel island and several smaller islands. The State Department says the US has never officially claimed them. There are some Americans who claim that they should belong to us though.

If that is the case, then I wonder why the State Department would be negotiating with Russia over the possession of those islands? (Assuming they are.)

That's a lot of oil to give away.

I conjecture that this is the reason that we are not “allowed” to exploit our own resources -

they are “collateralized” to our creditors.

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, and a few bureaucrats are said to be doing this behind the scenes.

There are several organizations purporting these facts. Someone is getting something BIG out of it: if it is true.
That is one thing you can be certain of being fact.

God help us in our day, in Jesus name, amen.

Who is the President? Then no rumor, no matter how unlikely, is out of bounds.

I see that it’s named “Wrangel Island” and not Stalin Island or Molotov Island. The other island names are said to be: Herald, Bennett, Jeannette, Henrietta, Copper.

Absolutely, positively true!!!

hitlery and the islamic muslim-in-chief met at the white mosque last evening...and after getting up off the prayer rug, decided to appoint two senators to do the negotiation.

Senators landrieu and lincoln were appointed.

The reason given was that they will say or do anything, as long as the bribe is big enough. For landrieu, that would have to be in excess of $300,000,000 as this is now her baseline amount.

Just keep in mind the State Department is mainly composed of viruently Anti-American Sacks of Crap..

Then it makes sense.. If something is bad for America not in America’s best interest the State Department slime can be counted on to support it 100%

These islands have never been part of Alaska in the first place.

"These islands have never been part of Alaska in the first place."

OK, if these islands with Anglo names have never been in the possession of the U.S., why is the State Department negotiating over them? I'm just trying to find out if that assertion, quoted in my initial post, is true.

The State Department is NOT negotiating over these islands.

And the Wrangle Island is not called that within Russia.
