GW University Students Enthusiastically Display Troop Support At Walter Reed
FRONT GATE NOTES November 20, 2009, Students, Soldier Hugs and Patriotism
A big Shout-Out for the over 33 university students from George Washington University who warmed a brisk Friday evening by waving American Flags at passing cars, chanting USA, USA, USA . and singing patriotic songs until 8:30pm.
Many wounded warriors are about the same age as these students, and seeing university students supporting our military was especially meaningful to the wounded warriors and their families who are constantly coming and going through the front gates. It is an important morale booster to the Troops. It shows We Care.
These students were from states such as Mass, CT, NJ, and Md among others and they are active politically. We supplied them with flags to wave, or signs, and provided some with a ride back to the Metro. At least one is a cadet who will be going into the Army.
We look forward to seeing some or all of them from time to time.
Close to 9pm, a soldier in civvies ran to our corner, hugged Elizabeth, said thank you and then ran diagonally across Georgia Ave and hugged Victory NY before jumping into a parked SUV. Left us speechless!
Two buses tonight! A large bus filled with wounded warriors and their families. A long stop light and they waved back as hard at us, as we did at them. The Disabled American Veteran bus followed right behind.
WRAMC Anti - War Protester News
About eight moonbats, dues-paying union members, did whatever they do, from exactly 7pm to exactly 9pm. A few university students expressed interest in seeing code pink. And were amused when they heard the story about how code pink was pushed off the front gates by the DC Chapter of FR (over 4 years ago). The left never at a loss for losers, had a union group replace the anti-military code pink presence.

Two Buses Returning From Friday Nights Dinner
This image flashed across my mind as the HUG was over. The HUG, which will now go down in WR legend, wasn’t as quite as dramatic but it sure was a showstopper.
Did I see Chief’s chin in that photo with trooprally?
I’m happy to hear that your hubby won’t deploy again, hopefully. God bless.
Yes sirree, you do see Chief’s chin. The rest was also all his. Chief was a welcome surprise in the chilly weather.

Dear BufordP:
It was indeed the CHIN!
In over 4 yrs I never saw the Chief without his imposing beard. So when I went over and intro’ed myself, I was kinda embarrassed when he smiled and said he was The Chief.
So good catch!
Maryland PING!
Sorry to be so late thanking you and all the Freepers for being there last week. I just saw this thread.
I don’t think I am on your ping list...?? Please may I?
I am glad to see and hear about such a great and energetic crowd.
