My radio pal Hugh Hewitt said to me on the air the other day that Barack Obama "doesn't know how to be president." It was a low but effective crack, and I didn't pay it much heed. But, after musing on it over the last week or so, it seems to me frighteningly literally true.

I don't just mean social lapses like his latest cringe-making bow, this time to Their Imperial Majesties The Emperor and Empress of Japan — though that in itself is deeply weird: After the world superbower's previous nose-to-toe prostration before the Saudi King, one assumed there'd be someone in the White House to point out tactfully that the citizen-executives of the American republic don't bow to foreign monarchs.

Along with his choreographic gaucherie goes his peculiar belief that all of human history is just a bit of colorful back story in the Barack Obama biopic — or as he put it in his video address on the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall: "Few would have foreseen on that day that a united Germany would be led by a woman from Brandenburg or that their American ally would be led by a man of African descent."

Tear down that wall . . . so they can get a better look at me!!!

Is there no-one in the White House grown-up enough to say, "Er, Mr. President, that's really the kind of line you get someone else to say about you"?

The other day, for example, he told Fox News that "if we keep on adding to the debt . . . people could lose confidence in the U.S. economy in a way that could actually lead to a double-dip recession."

That's a great line -- but not from a guy who plans to "keep on adding to the debt" as a conscious strategy. This is the president who made "trillion" the new default unit of federal budgeting, and whose irresponsibility is prompting key players around the world to consider seriously whether it's time to ditch the dollar's role as global reserve currency.

Rush had an interesting comment a few months ago, mostly related to the lack of seriousness with which Zero goes about the job. Rush said that, “Obama doesn’t want to be President, he wants to do President”.

Mostly true. He has his minions doing the Marxist thing for him while travels about playing basketball, trashing America while on foreign soil, playing golf, throwing “friends” under the bus if the become too big of a liability, going on dates ... you get the idea.

Indeed, observe the history of recent Democrat presidential candidates.

John Kerry was prepared to delegate full responsibility for Defense and Foreign Affairs to John McCain, if he agreed to serve as Vice-President. That is not the action of a serious President. Instead, it recalls somebody whose interest extends to residing in the White House and entering to "Hail to the Chief".

Algore viewed the job as his birthright. Does anybody remember a single serious initiative he proposed during his campaign? Global warming doesn't count.

Then, there was Bill Clinton. A President whose workday extended from roughly 10 AM to lunch. An incessant traveler and a diddler. He was also intent on "doing the President thing".

That one party should have such a run of shallow narcissists as nominees for the top office in the free world is rather stunning, isn't it?

It really says what the Democrat party has become.

Leftists, panty waists, liberals and Democrats believe that leadership means being liked. Being a leader has nothing to do being popular. A leader does what has to be done and stepping on toes or bowling someone over is not a problem.

I had a bolt and nail eating, fire pissing, two fisted First Sergeant in the Army. When crap needed to be done, it got done. He was unconventional, he was gruff but damn could this man lead a company. He was brutally honest with officers to the point that some of them felt insulted. Our Company Commander knew that all he had to do was stay out of the way, let Top do it his way and he would get all the credit.

I absolutely hated this SOB, but I would follow him through the gates of Hell to fight the Army of the Satan. And believe me, Satan would be in trouble.

I’d argue their isn’t a vacuum of leadership (only a vacuum of the good/moral or righteous). Evil incarnate leadership has taken this nation on a detour that will only end up in a dead end.
