Hacker Releases Data Implicating CRU in Global Warming Fraud (Updated)

So, has much of the climate change debate of the last ten years been a purposeful fraud? If the files that became available in the last few hours prove to be legitimate, it would appear so.

Here’s the story so far. At 9:57 p.m. on Thursday, November 19, comments were posted on The Air Vent — a well-known climate skeptic site — that read:

We feel that climate science is, in the current situation, too important to be kept under wraps.

We hereby release a random selection of correspondence, code, and documents. Hopefully it will give some insight into the science and the people behind it.

UPDATE: This is beginning to get some attention. Ace notices the same paragraph, and notes: “Keep in mind that when Jones wrote that in 1999 we hadn’t had a decade of global cooling yet. So perhaps he was obscuring a decline in the warming trend?”

It’s been picked up by Rush Limbaugh via American Thinker, and I’m hearing rumors that CNBC may be next....

This will become yet another political football where everyone decides for himself who he chooses to believe.

Philip Jones, head of Hadley CRU confirmed that the documents were legitimate.

Another scientist whose emails are included in the “haul” has ALSO stated that the emails are 100% genuine.

Analysts at several organizations have analyzed the data and have stated that it is NOT fabricated — all email headers, file coding, etc... is GENUINE.

They can’t stop this now, and a LOT of heads are going to roll. Check out all the threads from this morning for MUCH more information...

Many of the ‘players’ are university professors who WROTE the e-mails on their official university email accounts. As such, they are discoverable via FOIA act and if they were destroyed (ha ha ha, they weren’t they are on a server somewhere, unbeknowest to these fraudsters) intentionally after Steve McIntrye requested them via FOIA then they were criminal acts.

Never underestimate the greed of a lawyer. People paid big money for those studies. Now if the data was proven a hoax they can get all their money back. Governments are hurting for cash at the moment so they might just drop a fraud suit on the enviros to recoup a billion or two.

Another reason is for self preservation. If the politicians turn in the enviros then they can claim "we were duped just like everyone else". Of course that ignores the fact that a lot of us knew this was a hoax all along. It also ignores the fact that they stood to profit big from Cap -n- Tax. But if there isn't going to be a Cap -n- Tax to pay off their bills then they need to get money and save face. And the enviros go right under the big green bus.

Remember there was a time when the politicians were sure that the Earth was cooling into a new ice age. They knew the world would be out of oil by 1985. They knew that we could never compete with the Soviet Union. They knew that the world was going to overpopulate and that there wouldn't be enough food. They knew that the ozone layer was going to go away and we would all die of cancer. Each of those fads created billions of dollars of government studies and radical changes in lifestyle. And when each was revealed as a fraud the politicians all looked into the camera and said "Don't blame us it was those lying scientists." And at the end of each scam a few or in many cases one, fraud scientist was hauled before congress and castigated for duping the poor American people. Not that he or she cared if their scientific work was now the punchline to a joke, they had fat bank accounts to fall back on. This will be just one more case study, while the liberals try to come up with the next scam.
