After arresting a young black man last night in Sara Sims Park, two white Boynton Beach Police officers faced down an angry crowd threatening violence. Cooney, who authored the incident report, noted here that there were some 100 people in the park and the surrounding area. He wrote:

We are overlooking one important lesson. There are certain people you should never hit in the head with your bare hand.
This is one of those cases I would have fully supported the officers in opening fire, and probably a few reloads in between volleys.
