A St. Paul man who beat his 4-year-old son for wearing a rival gang's color was sentenced this week to the 86 days he has served in jail.
Kenny Tamon Jackson, 30, pleaded guilty to malicious punishment of a child, a gross misdemeanor, in the Aug. 25 incident.
Ramsey County District Judge Kathleen Gearin ordered Jackson on Tuesday to have no contact with the 4-year-old until he completes a parenting program. Gearin also sentenced him to two years' probation.
According to the criminal complaint, police were called about 12:30 p.m. to Jackson's house in the 500 block of Sherburne Avenue. There had been a report that a man on drugs was destroying a house.
When police showed up, Jackson tried to hide in the trunk of a car but was caught.

How often does this happen in YOUR neighborhoods, FReepers?
“Ramsey County District Judge Kathleen Gearin ordered Jackson on Tuesday to have no contact with the 4-year-old until he completes a parenting program.”
Yeah, that oughta do it...counseling...problem solved...
Likely he was unaware that beating a 4 year old for wearing a rival gang’s colors was poor parenting. A training class should fix that...
Charge him with a hate crime.
“Yo, represent!”
“But dad, I wanna be a Jet!”
“Be true to your school, boy!”
...
“That boy ain’t right.” < /hank hill >
I guessing “Blue Bayou” isn’t on his iPod.
definitely .
If it was a maize and blue shirt I could understand the response.
43 hours and 5 minutes until game time.
“I got the blues...”
I have a four year-old Daughter. I’d protect that kid with my life, not beat the hell out of her.
This degenerate should be castrated before he has the chance to impregnate any more women.
One of the things that makes big, liberal government such a disaster is the libs' persistent belief that they can think up government programs to solve social problems. In fact, most of these programs are disasters. Some ACORN worker or touchy-feely university graduate who can't spell or do math will find employment in "teaching" parenting. It creates jobs for the lightly educated but essentially unskilled. And it grows government and the constituency of the Democrat Party. It is a sham.
And after this cretin "graduates" from parenting school, he will find himself in the criminal justice system for some other offense or in drug rehab or unemployed or all of the above. And, in each case, there will be "programs" and government "workers" to deal with him.
“When police showed up, Jackson tried to hide in the trunk of a car but was caught.”
Why didn’t they leave him in there and drive the car around for awhile? A little carbon monoxide may just be thing to remedy this situation.
This guy certainly deserves more than 86 days in jail. On drugs, member of a gang, and beating a four year old....yup an up standing citizen. Too bad we have done away with horse whipping and time in the stocks
I knew it by seeing his middle name.

Tamon?
They left out the “p”...
People in St. Paul... we know...support Al Franken.
