Data from Rasmussen Reports national telephone surveys shows that 15.0% of Democrats in the workforce are currently unemployed and looking for a job. Among adults not affiliated with either major party, that number is 15.6% while just 9.9% of Republicans are in the same situation.
These findings are from interviews with 15,000 American adults in October. The numbers show an increase in all categories from earlier in the year.
The percentage of unemployed Democrats has grown less than a point from 14.2% in February.
Among those not affiliated with either major party, unemployment has grown by more than two percentage points from 13.3% in February to 15.6% now.
As for Republicans, the percentage unemployed has also grown more than two points after starting at just 7.8% in February.
The numbers are not directly comparable to the official unemployment statistics and are not seasonally adjusted. However, the trend is clear. In February, unemployment stood at 11.8% and that grew to 13.5% in October.
Its interesting to note a shift in the composition of the workforce. In February, 45.6% of workers were working for another company in the private sector while 21.9% were self-employed or had their own company. Since then, the number working for someone else has dropped three points to 42.4% while the number of entrepreneurs has jumped three points to 24.6%.
A different way of looking at the overall data is to compare the percentage of working adults. This factors in people who are retired or out of the workforce for some other reason. In February, 58.3% of Americans were working. That fell to 56.5% in October.
The Rasmussen Employment Index has shown that 15% of workers say their organizations are hiring. That number has held steady for eight straight months. Nearly twice as many report lay-offs where they work.
The Rasmussen Consumer Index measures consumer and investor confidence on a daily basis.

As a small business owner, I see the storm on the horizon. Almost daily, someone asks if we’re hiring. But due to the increased costs of employees and not knowing if I’ll be able to pass these costs on to customers, I can’t afford to hire now.
But recently, after greeting an applicant with ‘How you doing?’, he replied, “Better than I deserve.”
Now, that guy is working, but he doesn’t have a ‘job’.
A few of us pay him for various tasks, but if this turns around we’ll probably be fighting to keep him permanently, if he doesn’t turn this process into his own business.

Conservatives, whether they claim the name of Christ or not, tend to follow His ethics, as this is the basis of our value system.
2 Thessalonians 3:10
For even when we were with you, we gave you this rule: “If a man will not work, he shall not eat.”
Ephesians 4:28
28He who has been stealing must steal no longer, but must work, doing something useful with his own hands, that he may have something to share with those in need.

He’s clearly a Dave Ramsey listener (that’s a Ramsey response).
Rush may be the ideological leader of conservatism ... but Dave Ramsey is the living model of applied conservatism. Rush has the ideas right — but to emulate his life will send you in the wrong direction. Ramsey leads a life worth emulating.

I was just wondering the same thing.
I listen to Rush in the office.
Someone came in asking if we were hiring, and in the next breath, he ranted about how hateful, evil, etc, Rush was.
Wasn’t it apparent to him that if he felt that way, we couldn’t work together?
I have Democrats as employees but we don’t discuss politics.
It is nice that we have code phases isn’t it? Shhh!
That “challenge/response” is a pretty good code for the worldview of the person you’re talking to.
Dave Ramsey says that if the pizza delivery guy answers it “correctly”, you should tip him extra, because he’s working an extra job in order to be financially responsible,
and he’s not going to go blow it on a sixpack.
"If someone has more than me, THEY CHEATED! And it's NOT FAIR!"
My wife and I are going to see Dave live in Houston in January. I’ve read a couple of his books ... but am looking forward to the live show.
Live like no one else ...
SnakeDoc
I listen to Dave Ramsey whenever I get a chance.
“Live like no one else so that you can live like no one else.”
PSS I also bought a Hustler zero turn mower from a gentlemen who gave me the ‘Better than I deserve’ greeting. But he did give me a great deal and I paid cash.
The cure for Socialism is to keep as many Democrats as possible unemployed for as long as possible.
>> Democrats & Unaffiliateds More Likely To Be Unemployed Than Republicans
This is a lousy headline. “Dems & Unaff more likely than Republicans to be unemployed” makes sense ... ‘more likely to be unemployed than (to be) Republicans’ is probably not what they intended to say.
SnakeDoc
I have a friend who is looking for a job. Among his many skills is that he is an expert on environmental regulation. I was working on his resume and told him “we have to figure out a subtle way to indicate on this resume that you a conservative without you coming out and saying it.”
Our concern is that no company is going to want to hire some environmental nut who spends his time bugging everyone about whether they are recycling. On the other hand, lots of companies need someone competent who can lead them through the maze of environmental regulations.
Democrats, less likely to desire a job.
You forgot college professors and professional demonstrators.
Just shows that Republicans eat more sh*t.
Good!
I hope they suffer miserably.
