In an interview with CNN in China, President Obama opened the possibility to not running for re-election in 2012 -- something that no president has done since Lyndon Johnson.
Here's what he said:
"You know, if - if I feel like I've made the very best decisions for the American people and three years from now I look at it and, you know, my poll numbers are in the tank and because we've gone through these wrenching changes, you know, politically, I'm in a tough spot, I'll - I'll feel all right about myself," Obama told CNN's Ed Henry.
"I said to myself very early on, even when I started running for office, I don't want to be making decisions based on getting re-elected, because I think the challenges that America faces right now are so significant," the president also said.

I didn’t say he’d have a long and prosperous reign, though.
I read that this morning. That was what I was thinking about when I posted, Obama lies. I also heard that Obama attempted to warn the Chinese about freedom of the press. Obama changes the message to fit the audience and the agenda. He thinks that people are too dumb to compare notes.
I die with a happy heart, aware of the immeasurable deeds and achievements of our soldiers at the front, our women at home, the achievements of our farmers and workers and the work, unique in history, of our youth who bear my name.
If he’s successfully destroyed the country by then he’ll step down; if he hasn’t, he’ll keep trying.
Hillary is waiting.
You betcha!
That’s about as close to a self-admission of epic fail as you get inside the beltway.
Why should he run for another term? What would be the benefit?
Does he get more “retirement income” for putting in 2 terms? Could he make more money on tour after one term or after 2?
Not eligible.. He’s gotten away with it so far..
>>”I’ll feel all right about myself”
That’s what it’s all about for this self-centered POS.
“myself”. “myself”. “myself”. “myself”. “myself”.
Why should he run again? His fortune is made.
By 2012, Barry will have already bowed to every tin-horn dictator and emperor on Earth...and kissed every commie butt, too. No hills left to climb?
Not running for another term is a tacit admission that he knows he can't win. At best, a second term would be an opportunity to leave behind a legacy of something other than failure and corruption.
If he quit now, we wouldn’t hold it against him.
Good.
Why the hell does he have to tease us like this? I’d give up a kidney to make it so.
I don't want to be making decisions based on getting re-elected.."
Because frankly, America, I don't give a damn.
