Sarah Palin's publishing and political worlds in collision(detente?)
CNN ^ | 11/181/09 | Mary Matalin

Posted on 11/18/2009 5:49:19 AM PST by winoneforthegipper

Bottom line: The book is a good read, an unusually detailed front-row seat view to how strained campaigns always are, and a compelling insight into Palin's perspective. Its long-term publishing and political impact are unknown for now, though as Palin moves out of the mainstream media monster publicity machine and into more hospitable, relevant political terrain, the prospects for success on both fronts improve exponentially.

But its impact on personal and professional relationships is a sad one indeed and one I hope conservatives don't let it divide us just when we are marching toward a promising midterm, which reflects an ascendant common-sense conservatism and requires all the good guys in the foxhole together.

Interesting read on a few fronts. Mary, is playing the smooth over role of Palin's impact on the Rino-wing of the GOP.

I say....Sorry Mary....as did the mariner's of the past, I will follow the true northern star!

>> I hope conservatives don’t let it divide us

That’s an admission that Matalin is NOT a conservative.

Us, Mary? When did you become a conservative? You were a Bush the Elder moderate before you married that vile Carville let alone now. Off with you.

>> common-sense conservatism

Here’s what “common sense conservatism” means.

** Abortion is OK!
** Queer marriage is OK!
** BIG BIG Government is OK!
** Global warming is a serious threat — cap and trade is OK!

Uh... can someone explain what part of the agenda is conservative?

Mary's selection of a mate more or less disqualifies her from having any common sense.

Hey matalin, if you’re not part of the solution; you’re part of the problem. When you speak up to your husband, then we’ll listen. We’re dragging you kicking and screaming to true Conservatism.

Pray for America and Lady Palin

Mary is the last person whose advice I would ever consider.

Very funny and, like most great humor, rings with the simple truth.

I disagree with that RINO smoothover and have yet to receive my own copy of the book, but I agree that the finger-pointing-back is unPresidential, and Presidential is what Palin wants to appear.

Better that she could have satisfied the publisher with policy, philosophy and autobiography, rather than have given the press more of this backbiting stuff.

I suspect that Sarah Palin is going to be Sarah Palin and I believe that she will largely prove to be a purveyor of truth, logic, reason and fidelity. And, those are attributes that none on the liberal side can emulate and that those on the conservative side will admire and hoe to attain. I know that Sarah is not perfect, as none of us are, but she likely to comes closer than most.

Policy books gather dust.

People want personal stuff. Palin was jerked around by the McCain campaign staff and most of us knew it and appreciate the truthful information.

Palin's appeal is being one of us who talks like one us. The book follows through on that theme.

Here’s the rub number 9,

We don’t want politics as usual. Your critique is valid in ways but you are entirely missing the point, in my estimation. Do not worry you seriously are not alone.

It’s about circumventing the established principles of governance we have come to know as the “Beltway”!

Damn the torpedoes! Full speed ahead~!

Same here. Mary is on the same measuring scale as Newt and I’m not quite sure if she is one of the good guys in the fox hole. I would trust this article more if it were written by a pure Reagan Conservative that hasn’t been for the past 15 to 20 years, sleeping with a liberal, thug, socialist sympathising Democrat.

That reminds me of a line from the "The Blues Brothers" movie.

"We like BOTH kinds of music - Country and Western."

Nice try Mary, but no ceeegar for you.

As much as she tries to defend and excuse Schmidt and Wallace, anyone above the age of 3 has to realize what a Chinese Fire Drill the campaign was and while yes, perception is in the eye of the beholder, we also saw how Sarah was "handled" by those "experts."

Oh and btw, Mary, sorry, but we ain't buying any advice from any "Inside-the-Beltway" insider.

Methinks the other Bald-headed bad guy (to whom she is married) has been spiking her beverages with Kool Aid.

Watch it Mary or you will soon be a full-fledged RINO!!!

Is there something in the Carville household that causes one’s eyes to become naturally squinted? The profile picture of Mary has one to wonder.

On her stance of burning bridges, maybe her thesis works for DC but it seldome works in the heartland. If someone stabs you in the back on numerous occasions, the bridge is made of balsa wood. After the 41 re-election campaign I thought something was afoul inside the Carville/Matalin tomato. The only logical explanation was they were a union of Political Prostitution in that their alliance only raised them to the top of the curiousity chart within the beltway which reulted in both being rewarded handsomely. Do I have anomosity to them for this view, as a captolist, no way. You can figure out where my anomosity would be directed. The Career Political Class that feeds it.

We are all tired of the politicians and pundits who are now hopelessly bow-leggged because they have been riding in the straddle so long that the dividing line has disappeared between anything in this world and is only visible as a dull shade of translucent grey.

“But its impact on personal and professional relationships is a sad one indeed ...”

Many of McCain’s campaign people have been spewing all over her since the election with the media happily echoing it everywhere. Palin’s return fire is hardly “sad” but instead totally deserved and I hope she hits her targets taking them out. The back stabbing McCain RINO’s need to leave the political stage for good.
