Copenhagen climate change agreement is impossible World leaders have finally accepted that it will be impossible to come to a deal on climate change this year and have moved their attention to setting new deadlines for a global agreement.
By Louise Gray, Environment Correspondent Published: 2:10PM GMT 15 Nov 2009
The United Nations Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen in December has been billed as the world's last chance to stop global warming. But negotiations to forge a binding agreement have been hampered by a US refusal to sign up to targets on cutting greenhouse gas emissions.
The deadlock forced world leaders at a summit in Singapore at the weekend to admit that any deal this year will be little more than a "political agreement".

a “political agreement”.
That’s what it would be no matter when they sign it.

Wait a second, didn’t some major government poobah tell us two months ago that the world was going to come to an end if we didn’t come to an agreement by December? ‘We have just 60 days to save the planet’ or some such horse-pucky?
Shouldn’t we all be working on our obituaries now?

But negotiations to forge a binding agreement have been hampered by a US refusal to sign up to targets on cutting greenhouse gas emissions.
The delay is directly due to the growing pressure from Constitution loving Americans opposing not only Cap and Tax but also socialist health care. The opposition to especially the latter is creating a bottleneck of legislation in Congress. Keep up the pressure! Don't let up!
However they insisted that a legally-binding treaty would be thrashed out by the end of 2010 and even suggested a timetable and deadline to ensure negotiations stay on track..
Let's make it never! By then we will be close to if not already conducted mid term elections. Cap and Tax will be more difficult to support if we keep the pressure on candidates running for office to oppose Cap and Tax. Conservatives can then retake congress making it virtually impossible for Cap and Tax to pass.

But environmental groups are concerned that the "rescue package" is a delaying tactic by rich nations to wriggle out of cutting carbon being looted by the poor crum snatching nations. That's better.

The whole thing is a scam-- the EUrotrash pushing it know it, and they know the rest of the world knows it. There is no upside for most countries, and a severe downside for many. Only a few oligarchs-in-waiting actually buy this sh*t anymore, except for the cadres of green-bots. And they don't have the vigorish to push the agenda.
Looks like we have a reprieve from the wackoes, for the moment at least.

A bit of good news in an otherwise depressing 11 month administration. If this gets pushed off till mid 2010 congress will be busy trying to con us into reelecting their sorry a$$e$ to pass Cap and Tax.
