Sarah Palin's new book "Going Rogue" is set for release on Nov. 17 and with that will likely come a media blitz of epic proportions. However, based on the cover of the Nov. 23 issue of Newsweek, someone felt a response was warranted.
The wizards of smart at Newsweek took an image from a shoot of Palin that originally appeared in Runner's World magazine for the cover and splashed the headlines, "How Do You Solve a Problem Like Sarah?" and "She's Bad News for the GOP - and For Everybody Else, Too."
Mike Allen of Politico previewed the cover in the Nov. 14 edition of his "Playbook." In it, he included these comments from Newsweek editor John Meacham who blamed Palin for Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., struggles with his conservative base in South Carolina. One of those struggles for Graham was his acknowledgment that climate change is a manmade phenomenon in need of a so-called "compromise," And that backlash is somehow former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin's fault:
"What Obama advisers privately refer to as Palinism' has created a climate of ideological purity inside the GOP. To deviate from the anti-Obama line at all -- that is, to acknowledge that politics is the art of compromise -- risks the censure of the party. Pure ideologues will argue that this is a good thing; others like, say, South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham, a close friend of Palin's onetime champion John McCain, think differently. Graham was denounced last week by the Charleston County Republican Party for working with Democrats on issues such as climate change; the senator's office replied by invoking President Reagan's belief that elected officials need to find common ground and work together to solve difficult problems.'"
Meacham went on to fret over Palin as a far-right figure and how her popularity has created an environment where "centrist" political figures in the GOP aren't willing to work with the Obama administration "for fear of a backlash from the base."
Left-of-center sensationalism isn't unprecedented for Newsweek magazine covers. Earlier this year, the brain trust at Newsweek declared us all socialists on their Feb. 16 magazine cover. And as Tim Graham, the director of media analysis at the Media Research Center, said then, "the only Newsweek cover that would be more obviously untrue would be We Are All Objective Journalists Now.'"
Nice work!
Bad News for everybody with a (D) after their name.
Bad news, man! Like in Oh Mama!
” The leftists attacks on her I have never seen on ANYONE before. Bush got it bad, so did Reagan, but what Sarah has to deal with, its pure insanity”
If one of them harms her, it will be war in the truest sense.
Remember in the olden days when Newsweek was actually a respected magazine? Those days are long gone. It has turned into tabloid trash.
The founders of Newsweek must be rolling over in their graves.
Absolutely! And .. just look at her - she doesn’t resemble the liberal women - she just looks healthy and fit.
Great picture!
Newsweek is desperate for sales of their magazine.
They do the same thing with Rush - They put him on the cover because they need people to buy their trashy mag.
What if Newsweek was bad news for everybody?
Socrates would have said something like that.
I’m sure she’d be bad news for the folks who read Newsweek.
Remember what they did to Rush .. “Is this man good for America” .. and the picture of Rush showed a photo-shopped cigar smoke curling up his nose.
Newsweek will use anybody to sell their stuff.
Hey Newsweek! Bad news for everybody is 10.2% unemployment and rising and a $1.4 TRILLION dollar budget deficit all caused by your dumba$$ BOY!
Sarah can actually balance a budget! Asshats!
“Why do they demonize her so and call her everything but the anti-christ.”
Simple .. they’re terrified of her.
They can’t stand the thought of her running this country, and putting the DEMOCRATS out of power.
I love this one with Trig...we forget, TRig is another testimony to the character of this lady.
She lives in their minds rent-free.
And since when did Newseak want the GOP to do well?
The left has already harmed her by slandering her, her husband, her daughters (especially Bristol and Willow), and her son Trig so much that it has cost her and her family an untold amount of mental anguish and her job as governor.
What more "harm" of Sarah Palin and her family is needed to make this war?
One interesting suggestion I've heard is to reverse the magazines if you see them on newsstands. The best idea is a boycott of their advertisers and tell them why. Capitalism works every time you give it a chance.
Yes, GOP.
Is it possible, or could I have just imagined it?
Have my voters, by any chance, been having tea parties today?
Yes, GOP.
I see.
And where, may I ask, did they get these. . . .
patriotic clothes. -Is that what they are?
I made them from the flags that used to hang in the White House.
-Flags? -They have plenty of wear left.
We've been everywhere in them.
Are you telling me that my voters have been roaming about the US dressed. . .
. . .dressed up in nothing but some old flags?
And having a marvelous time!
-They have PC uniforms.
Forgive me, straitjackets.
They can't be free if they worry about PC
They haven't complain until now.
They wouldn't dare. They love the Country too much and fear—
Don't discuss my voters.
You've got to hear, you're never available—
I don't want to hear more!
I know you don't, but you've got to!
-Libertys not a child.
-Not one word—
Soon she'll be changed and you won't even know her.
Patriots want to be a men but you're not here to show—
Don't you dare tell me—
Conservatives could tell you a thing or two about Liberty. They notice everything.
The grass roots act tough to hide the pain when you ignore them. . .
. . .the way you do all of them.
The young generation, I don't know about yet.
The people just want to be free. Please, hear them all.
I don't care to hear more.
-I am not finished yet, GOP! -Oh, yes, you are, President Palin!
