Anyone who has been to Japan KNOWS if you do bow (which no US head of State should EVER do) as a sign of respect, you NEVER touch the other person while bowing.
In the picture, Obama bows AND shakes the hand at the same time, which is a total breech of protocol on the two levels I pointed out above. As such, it is obvious this buffoon either has not solicited the advice of the State Dept protocol officers, or, they have told him the proper way to behavem and he has ignored it. Either way it is inexcusable.

1) Americans do not bow.
2) The President represents the USA...he in particular does not bow.
3) Bowing often means subservience - we are not anyone’s servant.
4) No head of state is expected to bow to another head of state. We do not give bows, nor would we expect others to bow to us.
Only slaves bow to their masters.

Thank you freedumb2003! I didn’t realize what an impression it would make. Spent a couple of hours on it to get sizes, names, etc, correct!
I have two observations:
1. Obama is using this gesture to negate the bad PR about his bow to the King of Saudi Arabia. It’s a calculated strategy to establish a meme of “that’s just my way of showing respect”. He may even do it a few more times to cement that argument.
2. Since we don’t have a clear and unobstructed photo of his encounter with the Saudi King there is no way to prove this, but it is my firm belief that he didn’t just bow to the Saudi King, but that he actually performed the “salaam”, the traditional Muslim gesture of obeisance and submission(peace). I base this on the astonished expressions on the onlookers’ faces in the photo. I believe they realized immediately what he had done, the symbolism of it, and the message that was being sent...

I take it, my friend, you reside in these United States where all men, women included, are created equal. Therefore no leader of the USA need bow before any other human being in God’s world. Bowing is reserved for God in whichever way you so choose to worship him or not worship him. A cordial, diplomatic, sincere handshake with dignified greeting words is the way to go. Our present POTUS is a disgrace to our nation in more than numerous ways.

For those who don’t know, how far you bow is a sign of your status in Japan. It would be perfectly OK for Obama to give a slight bow out of respect, but a deep bow, like he did, is saying, “I’m your bitch.” It’s the bow a schoolboy would give to the dean.
