Don’t get too excited. I think Obie heard something last week alright. I think he heard that Israel is going to do what it has to in spite of Obama. The mosque seizures etc, were merely to protect himself for what could happen if Israel does what it may intend to do.

I think your hypothesis falls apart here at #2. I don't think he sees himself (or thinks others see him) as weak. His narcissism won't allow that, nor will his handlers.
His action of bowing to the point of embarrassing the Emperor of Japan and his wife, supports this. He's so overconfident that he won't even consider asking about, or using, proper protocol.
I can't see any nation aligning with this impudent figurehead and he won't enter into a skirmish unless he has backup.

I appreciate your thoughtful analysis, but disagree. I think Obama sees himself as a revolutionary for radical “progressivism” and sees his role to be the President who ended American imperialism. Therefore I donKt think he would ever do as you suggest he might.
Your arguments are cogent and compelling. They would apply to almost any very liberal President, even one who was as close to being a hardcore leftist as Carter was.
But to a President who isn't just very liberal, isn't just close to being hard left, but unequivocally is hard left, who is a genuine extremist? I'm not so sure.
It certainly appears at present, like leftist extremists generally for the past 30 or 40 years, that Obama wants to see America humbled. I think it's at least possible, if not probable, that he wants it so bad he'll allow his own humiliation in the process. (Plus, he may be incapable of seeing it that way anyhow.)

I would perhaps add, that, if the WH has made an internal decision to do this, he’s not going to broadcast it for the liberal mob to go bonkers over. They desperately want him out of Afghanistan - any indication he’s going to war with Iran would cause half of his voting base to slash their wrists in anguish.

While your logic is otherwise impeccable, it leaves out two other potential factors:
1. Obama is one of them.
2. Obama is a pussy.
That said, I give your scenario a 40-50% probability not because it's the right thing to do, but because it's politically expedient.
Obumma is a Sunni, not a Shi’ite. Not so difficult to see which way he will go. He visited Saudi and bowed, but not Iran.
You give Obama far more credit for intelligence than he has. He has nowhere near the brains of a Hitler or Stalin. he is a doctrinaire Marxist who got elected to lead a country he hates. He wants to be president of another country, the one he creates. However, your scenario is somewhat plausible as his version of the “Reichstag fire” to consolidate power for the left. I pray you are wrong because otherwise we will really be screwed...
