Less than half the British population still believes in Anthropogenic Global Warming, says a new survey commissioned by The Times.
Only 41 per cent accept as an established scientific fact that global warming is taking place and is largely man-made. Almost a third (32 per cent) believe that the link is not yet proved; 8 per cent say that it is environmentalist propaganda to blame man and 15 per cent say that the world is not warming.
Even more interesting than the result, though, is the Thunderers appalled reaction. In a leader that might have been easily have been written by the Great Moonbat himself, the Times quite simply refuses to accept that the growing band of sceptics may have a point. Instead, it accuses these deniers of being idiots:
It is possible that the collective expertise of brilliant scientists could be wrong. The best minds in the world once held a geocentric theory of the solar system. Before the discovery of sub-atomic particles they believed that everything was made of earth, air, fire and water. Right up to the 19th century, serious scientists wrote recipe books for making animals. But no previous process of scientific trial, error and progress has ever overturned such a well-attested thesis. Lord Rees has reminded us that we now live in a global village and it is, he pointed out, probably inevitable that there will be some global village idiots.

How dare these “village idiots” not walk the party line. They must be made to conform!!
So 59% are FOR global warming ???
Either poorly written or just stupid.
Yes, the belief in 4 elements came before the discovery of sub-atomic particles, but there was at least a couple centuries between the overturning of the "four element" theory and the splitting of the atom.
So Dark Matter in the Universe can throw Einstein’s General Theory of Relativity into question, but global warming is beyond doubt? Riiiiiiiiight.
59% in England DON’T believe in human-caused global warming, and The Times can’t accept that - hence the insults
Appears to be a color blind village idiot to me, complete with his own little dunce cap.
Mark my words. This will be the first time, largely because there hasn't been much trial and error with AGW theory. A small group of scientists started the theory, then it because politically popular in colleges, and after that academia jumped on the AGW bandwagon while the news media ignored dissenting opinions from scientists in the business community. AGW is one of the most complex scientific theories every formulated, and probably the most difficult theory to confirm in the laboratory. That is because it's so difficult to simulate the earth's atmosphere, land, and oceans in a lab experiment. Those simulations have to be done based on theory in computer models, and that's where the errors in AGW theory arose.
The strong reaction and lengthy effort to justify AGW from the Times are a sign that they're beginning to realize that AGW theory is false or at least wildly exaggerated. It the theory was true, it would stand on its own and it wouldn't need so much effort to justify it. Any top-notch statistician can disprove AGW theory just by analyzing the historical climate record.
Hey, cool shoes there. Is that a polyester jacket?...very kewl....lol. He must be a media superstar.
If the theory was true, it would stand on its own and it wouldn't need so much effort to justify it.
Ether and phlogiston are two counterexamples to this; both were widely accepted as scientific theses, but neither are today.
Actually, many of the ‘brilliant scientists’ are skeptics. It is computer programmers who are the most avid acolytes of AGW.
Most of my family held land in Freehold (Kings land), which ment we only had to tug our forelock "Good day your Lordship", Spit, and pay in cash on tax day.
You get a bowl of soup with that hat.

I know...
I was goiung on the way the headline reads...
I was making the 59% idiots all GW idiots
:)
actually there are about 12 idiots in the world...
Algore, that one in the UK and about 10 others
Oh, oh, I wish I could look that cool! Golly!
