LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — A jury sentenced a man to life in prison Thursday for the beating death of a popular Arkansas television personality, sparing him the death penalty after hearing testimony about his rocky upbringing by an abusive, drug-addicted mother.
Jurors deliberated less than three hours before recommending that Curtis Lavelle Vance, 29, be sentenced to life in prison without parole for the death of Anne Pressly. They also handed down a life sentence for rape, 20 years for burglary and 10 years for theft.
Pressly, 26, was an anchor on KATV's "Daybreak" program and had a bit part in the President George W. Bush biopic "W." She died Oct. 25, 2008, five days after a brutal assault that crushed her face and left her gasping for air.

Very disappointing, but Vance won’t get some cushy cell either. He’ll do hard time for what he did.

Anne was raped, sodomized, and her jaw was broken into so many fragments that it was virtually pulverized. When her mother found her uncounscious at 4:30 in the morning, there was blood on the ceiling. Anne appeared to recover in the hospital but on her fourth day in hospital, she took a turn for the worse and passed away.

Unfortunately, it is usually less than the money the state has to pay for a death row inmate. Lawyers’ fees and such.
And she can’t help but wonder why she’s dead and we allow him to live.
That is sickening! He chose to rape and murder her and nothing in his upbringing did that to him! He could have chosen to get a freaking job instead of stealing for a living.
After the way he killed her it is absolutely disgusting they let this piece of trash live. He used a wooden handled garden tool to break every bone in her face & mutilate her to where her Mother had a hard time recognizing her.
She woke up to find this garbage performing a sex act on her. Can you imagine the last thing you see in your life is this murdering piece of trash and trying to fight for your life against someone hell bent on killing you to keep you from identifying him!

What a waste Anne had to die because of this puke. And now he gets to live! Not only did he kill Anne but he changed the lives of her parents, family and friends FOREVER!

Vance became a suspect in the murder when his girlfriend was allegedly caught selling numerous items stolen in a series of area burglaries to a pawnbroker.
“‘This monster stole my daughter’s innocence,’ Patti Cannady said. ‘He took her life. He took her identity. He took our lives. Our lives have radically changed as a result of what’s happened to Anne.’”

Vance had been stalking other local white women and raped another in a nearby town and threatened to kill her if she turned around and looked at his face
Looking at that mug, I guesstimate that he will die himself in a serious prison brawl within five years.
He has been a complete smart*ss throughout the entire thing cliaming it is 'the system' that caused this! In other words, someone else caused him to steal for a living instead of getting a freaking job. I guess rape and murder was just a side 'job' if anyone dared to fight back.
Obviously prosecuted as a hate crime, right? Oh, never mind...
Vance’s mother testified Thursday that she was an abusive mother, and a doctor said Vance showed signs of paranoia. Pressly’s mother, Patti Cannady, told jurors Wednesday what it was like to lose an only child.
After the verdict was read, Cannady mouthed “It’s OK” to prosecutor Larry Jegley, nodded, and tucked her hands over her heart. But as she left the courtroom, Cannady stopped and turned at the door. She leaned toward the defense attorneys and said, “You protected someone who should have never been protected.”
Vance showed no emotion as the verdict was read.
Earlier Thursday, Vance’s mother, Jacqueline Vance Burnett, told jurors she was an abusive mother who had a number of crack-fueled run-ins with the law.
Burnett said she worked as a prostitute to earn money for drugs and once snapped after a “date” fell through. She said Vance had been left in charge of a younger brother and that when she returned, the brother was smearing feces on a wall. Burnett said she threw Vance into a brick wall several times until he nearly passed out.
She also told jurors she would buy drugs with money her children received from government benefits after their fathers died and that she had spent time in prison for burglary, forgery and theft. Vance’s mother said she has since gone through rehab.
Like ‘mother’ like son. Neither one was worth a damn.

He is not remorseful for what he did! His 'mother' pulled off the con of the century too.
