Recanvassing shows NY-23 race tightens even as Rep. Bill Owens is sworn into House seat

Washington -- Conservative Doug Hoffman conceded the race in the 23rd Congressional District last week after receiving two pieces of grim news for his campaign: He was down 5,335 votes with 93 percent of the vote counted on election night, and he had barely won his stronghold in Oswego County.

As it turns out, neither was true.

Rush should run with this today, and so should Fox News. This needs to be gotten to the bottom of. This is very fishy business.

One of Hoffman’s problems (and a problem with conservatives all over the US) is that he was too polite. He should never have conceded until ALL the ballots were counted, especially including absentee ballots.

I think this needs to start being the Conservative mode of operations for the future. No concession until it's OVER. The RINOs and 'Rats have been robbing us blind.

That should be in cases of close races AND where questions of legitimacy are concerned, as with the current Pres__ent.

And Owens was sworn in, yet New York state hasn’t certified the winner yet!

Just more proof that the liberals do not play by the rules as set (Constitution) but like to make the rules up as they go.

Would some conservative Republican PLEASE raise hell about vote fraud? The Dims will never do it, since they’re usually the beneficiaries, so it’s got to be a Republican. PLEASE?

The whole system needs a top to bottom review and cleaning. Stealing votes is absolutely WRONG no matter who is stealing them!

RAISE HELL!

>> How can they give the results of an election before the mail-in votes are counted? <<

It's my understanding that in many jurisdictions, the absentee ballots are NEVER counted unless there's an "arithmetic chance" they can make a difference.

For example if candidate A leads candidate B by 100,000 votes after the election-day votes are counted, and if there are 50,000 mail-in ballots yet uncounted, the powers-that-be don't need to spend the taxpayers' funds in counting the mail-in ballots -- since the outcome can't possibly be changed.

And then, the money that was saved can be given to ACORN for rigging next year's elections!

It doesn’t matter if Hoffmann wins.

Just like the Rats did in Indiana in 1984, they will refuse to seat the Republican, even if he wins. They’ll do it, because they have the power to do it.

He could have served a better purpose if he hadn’t conceded. Wouldn’t that have put a stop to them swearing in Owens?

Just really curious as to why in such a tight race that he would just concede knowing that the Health care count was coming to pass. It would have eliminated Owens vote and messed up the House..... Maybe it would have stirred others that their job was on the line.

I’m just shocked! And I hope he pulls off the win.

>> Owens already served his purpose on Saturday <<

Don’t be naive. Even without the three-vote margin provided by Owens, one more willing Dhimmi and Cao, Nurse Nanzi and Henchman Hoyer would still have prevailed — simply by calling up one or more of the “blue lap dogs” whom they were holding in reserve.

In other words, a vote of at least 218-217 was always pre-ordained, in spite of the big Kabuki show Nanzi and Steny staged all day Saturday.

The state hasn’t certified the election yet, they had done so in 1984. Pelosi never should have seated him.

Oswego County elections officials blame the mistakes on "chaos" in their call-in center that included a phone system foul-up and inspectors who read numbers incorrectly when phoning in results. Of 245 races in the county -- not including the congressional and court races -- 84 had incorrect totals reported election night.

This was deliberate. This was a tight race and everybody knew national focus was on this election. Never ever trust election officials in a tight race.

My son-in-law lost a race to a Dem. Mayor the night of the election and actually won by one vote during a recount. Seems the person counting absentee ballots mistakenly counted unsigned ballots. When no-body's expecting fraud, there will be fraud.

Hoffman will never go to Congress. The 'Rats will make sure of it, one way or another. They will either manufacture enough fraudulent votes for Owens to "win" after Hoffman pulls ahead (Gregoire in WA state, Franken in MN, the '84 Congressional contest in IN) , or they will change the rules so that the results can't be reversed (the Torrecelli fraud in NJ). And forget about the courts. As Coleman and Rossi found out, once the election is "in the books" (i.e., when the 'Rats say their candidate "won"), they will never reverse it.

The 'Rats always "win" close elections. They've done it many, many times. They would have done it in 2000 except some people got off their duffs and literally pounded on doors to be let in to oversee the "recount" and assure a fair process.

If Hoffman wins, he wins, no matter what the pelosibitch wants.

That sounds good in theory, but rarely does it work out that way.

Case in point...
The Republican Party filed a lawsuit in Chelan County Superior Court contesting the election, but the trial judge ruled against it, citing lack of evidence of deliberate electoral sabotage.

For the manual on "How to Steal an Election" scroll down to Campaign and read the point by point description of the process.

Also, the Republican Party is complicit in all of this. If you read the above you will find this:
However, the Republican Party decided not to fund ads for Rossi in the state as polls leading up to the election date showed Gregoire with a clear lead.[8] Almost all of Rossi's ads were paid for and created by outside sources, although as Gregoire's lead narrowed closer to the election date, the Republican Party ultimately decided to launch a series of advertisements for Rossi.

So pardon me if I have NO FAITH in the system or the republican party. Hoffman could prove he won by 10,000 votes, but the seat will remain Owen's.

Unfortunately, I can’t see Hoffman pulling this off. 10,200 absentee ballots? Some of them cast while Scumofazza was still in the race?

It would be very difficult for Hoffman to overcome a three thousand vote deficit at this point. I’d giggle like a gremlin if it happened, but I doubt it.

Besides, I’m sure that the democrats will find some ballots if it gets TOO close.

A candidate should never concede until ALL the votes are counted.

I second that motion!

I believe this occurs only if the Democrat is ahead. When he is trailing , the 50,000 mail in ballots magically increase into whatever number is needed to put him in the lead and steal, errr , win the election

Yes, I don’t see the Democrats in Congress ejecting Owens even if Hoffman has more votes. But if that happens, it’s something that conservatives could use in different ways—to anger honest independents with evidence of how the Democrats operate, and to deflate the accusations against Sarah Palin (that she ruined things for the Republicans by endorsing Hoffman).
