Here's a hard truth for the hard right
The Philadelphia Inquirer ^ | November 8, 2009 | Michael Smerconish

Posted on 11/11/2009 3:41:35 PM PST by EveningStar

Who is Dede Scozzfava? ...

"This is my party, too," she insisted. "There are a lot of moderate people - Republicans, like me - and I'm hearing from an awful lot of them. And I think the Republican Party needs to know if they don't have room for us and they don't want us working with them, we're going to find a way to work against them."

She acknowledged that many in the GOP would differ with her support for abortion rights and same-sex marriage. But she maintained that she approached those views from a conservative vantage point - a respect for individual liberties...

Her gun-rights bona fides, meanwhile, are beyond reproach. She received an A rating from the National Rifle Association in each election since 2002 (A-plus in 2000) and supported the New York Gun Owners of America in 100 percent of the relevant votes in 2002...

On Thursday, I asked former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, who had called Scozzafava's nomination a "train wreck," whether the GOP was better off with Owens headed to Washington. "No, not at all," he said. "The danger of pushing third-party candidates is that you end up with a Democrat rather than a less-than-desirable Republican." ...

So Smerconish had his way with Huckabee too, eh?

Disgusting.

i now have Bill Bennett morning in America, although the signal could be improved in the Philadelphia listening area.

I stopped listening circa 2006. Even back then he would mainly criticize conservatives and do the token disagreement with the libs. He never could articulate what it is about the GOP that he likes. More telling, he never says what it is about the Dems he does not agree. He wants a gig at MSNBC like his good buddy Chrissy Tingles. His show degenerated into fluff and conservative bashing. It's set up similar to the Howard Stern show with his version of Bobba Boey and a female laugh track. Downright unlistenable.

As for Dede, in all honesty she does have a few conservative positions but she DID support the stimulus bill and she DID support card check and she DOES lean toward the health care bill. The people should have been given the opportunity to vote in a primary instead of have a selected candidate foisted on them.

One more point on the ninny Smerconish. He had a recent column on philly.com where he flat out called on doing away with the primaries and bringing back the party bosses. Thoughts of a typical northeastern elitist IMHO. They are not too keen on this democracy stuff if might mean real conservatives might get in power.

Scozza was not one-issue--there wasn't an issue where she wasn't on the Marxist side. She got endorsements from WFP, for goodness sake!

She was selected by elites; she didn't emerge from a primary. She had not mandate whatsoever with Republicans or conservatives. She was a slap in our faces, and we all pushed back. We've had it with being insulted by the Grahamistes. All over the country, we pushed back.

I think Hoffman did amazingly well. And the elites in NY GOP better be ready to listen to their own party next time...which is coming up very quickly.

A democrat can be defeated in the next election by a Republican. A phony republican remains in office forever. Just ask Snarlin Spincter, or Olympia Snowe.

Dede should run in the Dem Primary and work toward reforming the DEMOCRATIC party. Push aside the radical left fringe, move the Dems toward a more centrist position. As they are now, they are just unusable socialists.

If Dede can get any traction moving them to the middle, she might find similar thinking Dems with her. Maybe even help the Dems reach a compromise with a New CONSERVATIVE Republican MAJORITY on, let us say . . . taxes?

In January 2011, to start, we want %50 reductions in rates and %50 reductions in NON-Military spending, ACROSS THE BOARD within the First 100 Days. As a compromise, POTUS Palin will let you, Dede, in the room when it is signed. That’s a compromise I could live with.

Forget the Repub party Dede, it’s ours, and we are purging the RiNOs.

She is not a moderate in any sense of the word so quit trying to pass her off as one.

Anyone looking at what her platform would say she was a lefty.

Moderates are not liberals, and liberals are not moderates.

Scozzafava is an unabashed (and vindictive) liberal.

Steele is costing the Republican Party a fortune in lost donations. My son worked (as a paid employee) for an outfit that does fund-raising for the R party. He said dozens of them sat there phoning known R’s who (in the past) had donated generously, and went all night long without getting a dime. Everybody they called said the same thing... You won’t get another dime from me until... (1) Michael Steele is gone, (2) you stop supporting Lib candidates (3) You develop a backbone (or testicles), etc. The Grassroots is MAD and telling the top leadership off when offered the opportunity to speak out. Instead of listening, the RNC fired the fundraising company for not raising a ton of money for them.

You can listen to Bill Bennett on Sirius Satellite......digital sound and you can drive from Philly to LA and never lose the signal or change the channel.

Sirius also has Mike Church, Andrew Wilkow and Sean Hannity live.

If you want the real home of conservative talk, go to Sirius.
