The lightly-built police heroine who is credited with halting the Fort Hood massacre almost died at the scene after losing half the blood in her body.
Mother of one Sergeant Kimberley Munley confronted gunman Nidal Malik Hasan and, despite being wounded in both legs, brought him down with four shots.
One of the shots cut an artery in her leg, leaving blood pumping out but she still managed to keep firing before collapsing.
Heroine: Kim Munley, a civilian police officer, is the woman who brought Hasan down by shooting him four times before he could slaughter more people.
Medic Francisco Delaserna applied a tourniquet to Sgt Munley as she drifted in and out of consciousness because of blood loss.
'I cut her trousers oopen, tied a tourniquet around her thigh and stopped the bleeding. But she had already lost a lot of blood,' he said.

And you know what? I don't care about Al Sharpton. The issue of black-white race relations doesn't have to be injected into every issue in America. This one's tense enough without trying to pour kerosene on the fire.

Couldn’t agree more, politicket. I also admire your non-PC stand. I’m sick to death of PC speech and attitudes. You are absolutely right! In some situations, God does raise up a woman to stand in the gap (Queen Esther, Deborah, and women like this officer). But men are programmed to protect, and to try to emasculate them by taking away means of protection sometimes results in situations like this. I get a lot of glee imagining what the stupid ragheaded terrorist thinks about an infidel FEMALE bringing him down!

I heard an on-site soldier say that he thought at first that it was a drill. He was convinced it wasn’t only when he saw blood dripping from a friend. I wonder how much training they get about attacks from WITHIN the ranks? I’m sure they were focused on Afghanistan and Iraq and the hazards there. This was totally off their radar. I guess it would be tantamount to sitting in church and having a parishoner stand up and open fire. Might take a second or two to comprehend the situation.

Be amazed at what a 1/3 circle of Hood’s tanks could do to that place!
Bravery and good shooting are sex neutral—hand to hand combat or dragging 200 pounders out of burning buildings is another thing.
At Fort Hood,lives were saved by a woman's fearless marksmanship.
Everywhere else,how many have perished during this PC age because of a woman's lack of,through no fault of her own,raw physical power?
Women have uses in indirect warfare and law enforcement,but not on mean streets and even meaner fields of combat.

I cannot provide a definitive answer...except to say that it is "less expensive" to hire civilian personnel than military. Meaning that if military staff were used exclusively, we'd need many many more of them.
In "the old days"....I know I was given KP; we used exclusively military cooks, and military police.
Then came carter, clintoon, and now the great islamic muslim communist...
Lo and behold...civilians on military installations....lots of 'em.

Not enough, it would appear, and it's not like there haven't been any insider attacks in Iraq and Afghanistan. In fact, unstable soldiers are more likely to snap when they're under the pressure of being in a combat area.

Or several. But 3 minutes, for 300 people just seems like a lot, especially with only one person firing (would have been a lot more confusing if there had been one or more armed security officers already present who started returning fire, leaving a lot of confusion as to "who started it"). I'm just thinking of that high school shooting. Those 300-400 kids were certainly not thinking they needed to be prepared to react to a violent attack in their school cafeteria, and yet 7 boys responded fast enough to end the shooting with a death toll of only one inside the cafeteria. By the time armed police arrived, the shooter was already disarmed and securely restrained.
The first kid who went after the shooter in that case, Jacob Ryker, would be about 28 now. I wonder what he's up to, and what he's thinking about this. There's a Jacob Ryker Twitter account saying he's a "Corporate/Government sales rep for U.S. Cellular", but not clear if that's the same guy.
The male does not fit the story line. Remember that little blond girl from W VA who supposedly held off jihadis when her truck group was ambushed in Afghanistan? It turned out she was injured early on and was just taken prisoner. Done her job, but hardly The hero. DBM makes me sick.
