The first people who came across Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, the psychiatrist suspected of Thursday's murderous rampage, told tales Friday of quick, calm efforts in the face of danger.
By the time it was over -- in less than five minutes, base commander Lt. Gen. Bob Cone said -- 13 people were dead and 38, including Hasan, were wounded.
Mark Todd was one of two civilian police sergeants credited with helping take down Hasan. He and partner Kimberly Munley pulled up outside the building where the shooting was occurring at the same time, and Todd saw the shooter standing outside -- about 15 yards away. He appeared calm.
"As soon as we got there, it was game on, and then that's when it escalated, and we did what we had to do," he told CNN's "Anderson Cooper."
"I yelled at him, 'Stop! Drop the weapon!' And that's when he raised his weapon and fired a couple of shots at me."
Todd said he and Munley both took cover and as Hasan walked around one side of the building, he went around the other. "That's when I saw him again. I told him to drop his weapon and he fired a couple more rounds. He fell, I went up and secured his weapon."
As soon as his weapon had been taken away, medics appeared, Todd said.
"It was like instantaneous," he said. "We started life-saving measures to keep him alive as well."

Political Correctness is used to keep America blind to what actually goes on inside a Mujihads heart mind. The left has worked so hard at making sure that America does not see its war against Terror as a religious war, when in fact the enemy sees it as EXACTLY that. A religious war.
This is , as Bush said, a war against evil. And evil came to Fort Hood in the form of a jihadi who was in fact possessed by Allah.For me this incident has shades of the movie “Exorcist.”
And Good has triumphed, even though so many innocents died.
This truth of which we speak needs to me shared with America as much as possible.America needs to know of the evil which it faces, at long last. No matter what the left want to make of it.
The religious practice of the Mujihad needs to be explained to every one. There is an inner prayer designed to connect one with the self righteous energy of Allah, who literally takes over the body and mind of the jihadine.Thats what happened here.A kind of Muslim spiritual possession.Hasan was not insane, or deranged. He was just fired up on his prayers and energized.He was executing a religious ritual which he believed would open the gates of heaven for him.
The MSM will not properly inform the public about this religious practise of jihadism.It would no longer be a war on terror,The terrorists could no longer be redefined as “criminals” by Obama , who should be Mirandized with the benefits of due process that Bush had made sure to remove, as deserved.
Finally! The WHOLE truth came out on this. I knew I smelled a Jessica Lynch story by the Army. The female officer is truly a hero, but her partner has been completely ignored up until now.
We are not even close to knowing the WHOLE truth yet.
And on behalf of both “the female officer” (BTW her name is Kimberly Munley) and Jessica Lynch, I strongly suggest you find it within yourself to dig deep, and temporarily leave your anti-female attitude out of this.

He’s been on thread after thread posting this garbage. He doesn’t like Sarah Palin either. He says he’s a soldier but takes pleasure in calling the army liars. He apparently has a big problem with women.
She’s NOT in the army. The army has nothing to do with it. For a guy that says he’s a soldier you sure have a problem with the army.
It sounds like Todd was hesitant to actually fire his weapon!
The guy 'fell' because his partner shot him!

I love the Army that I serve with. I just don't like the political correctness and the lying-to-the-taxpaers-that-fund-your-payroll style propaganda that I witnessed first hand over the last year I spent in Iraq. It's sickening and the Americans that fund us deserve to have the whole truth when it has nothing to do with a sensitive secret. I call that being a model federal employee, not a bad soldier. If you knew the truth behind Jessica Lynch and half of the press releases regarding the death of those I personally served with, you would know what I mean. And, further, this last episode of PC press releases by my Army is another example of the misinformation I'm talking about.
You all saying “she was civilian” are absolute retards, figuratively speaking. She was a Department of Army Police officer. She was employed for and by the ARMY.
I’m sorry. Do you work for the Army? Obviously not. Our bases are full of civilians, all of which answer to the base commander or the pentagon. Therefore, although not enlisted or in the officer corps, they still work for the Army just as I work for the Army as a soldier. In almost every MOS, civilians work side-by-side with us whether it is in a training position or as a fill in due to a shortage (civilian cooks and enlisted cooks work doing the same thing; civilian equipment operators and enlisted equipment operators doing the same base improvements; enlisted military police and DOA police doing the same jobs; civilian firefighters and army firefighters; civilian doctors and military officer doctors; the list goes on forever).
And they still aren’t going to get any good publicity out of a civilian police officer doing her duty. The only spinning the army is going to be doing is trying to explain how a terrorist with a hate website and the wrong loyalties wasn’t drop kicked out a long time ago. If Officer Munley hadn’t been willing to stand her ground and risk her life, who knows how many more people that selfish monster would have killed. You should be thanking her for protecting your fellow soldiers, not trying to tear her down.
Read this thread and then, all of you that accused me of woman hating (just like liberals - you call names instead of argue facts) just because I smelled the truth behind the propaganda, can line up to apologize.
