WASHINGTON A House leader says Democrats haven't yet lined up enough votes to pass their health care overhaul bill and may push the vote set for Saturday back one day or more.
Majority Leader Steny Hoyer of Maryland says the vote that House Democrats had scheduled for Saturday could slip to Sunday or early next week.
Hoyer acknowledged to reporters Friday that Democratic leaders don't yet have the 218 votes needed. He said he still expects passage Saturday night. But he added that some Democrats are still "looking to get a comfort level" with the bill.

Ive been calling my Rep, Chris Carney (Blue Dog) since this mess started. Every time I ask for his position, his staff tell me he is still undecided. Just for kicks I called yesterday, stated the bill may be voted on Saturday and again asked his position. You can all guess the answer. "PRESENT!"

Pelosi and Hoyer never had the votes — the bravado was for public consumption via the MSM to create an aura of inevitability.

simply want the prentense they have the votes and scare the naysayers into going along. How many times has she already said she has the votes? This is at least the second time.

I bet she’s delaying the vote in order to keep her promise of having the final bill online for 72 hours prior to voting on it...

Man the phone lines, full speed ahead. I have been calling once a day for a couple of weeks now, giving different names every time. My message for today is: if you like your job, don’t vote for this mess.

I called my Rep and Senators Wednesday, went to DC yesterday, and spoke with Sen Casey personally on a street corner. Today I need to get off the 'puter and pay the bills. Please help, fellow Freepers - we can do this, but we need everyone to engage.
Going forward, we need to roll up our sleeves and get some serious conservatives into offices around the nation - I'm all ears as to how to get this done.

I’m sure she just wants to honor the pledge of having it online for 72 hours. /sarcasm

if the actual date and time of the vote is known in advance you can be sure that another big crowd of Patriots will gather around the Capitol. Sure she wants to avoid that.

The funny thing is, after the holidays all this stuff is probably going to magically go away, like it never happened. It will be election season and they won’t want to put their names on NUTHIN.
Only trouble is, this economy is not going to stop sucking. I thought the stimulus bill was timed to come pouring out with largesse right before the next election, but now they say the “stimulative” effect is largely spent. Sucking is a stimulative effect.

Why in the world would they want to go on record with a mess like this when they know there is no hope in hell of getting it through the senate? Answer, they don’t want to. They need to put on a good show for the rabid barking moonbat left, but they know it’s dead.
I wouldn’t bet on that, but it seems likely. New third rail: Healthcare. But, it’s largely the same old third rail - Medicare.

How can such an incompetent nitwit 1) get elected to such as powerful position as House Speaker, and 2) actually keep the job?
Because she wakes up every morning thinking the people of SanFransisco are NORMAL.
