The brave soldiers who were massacred at Fort Hood had trained to fight the jihadist enemy abroad. But they seem to have ended up being murdered by the same enemy on American soil, in a place where they thought they were safe murdered, apparently, because a series of military and medical officials recognized what was going on with this major and chose to do nothing about it.
Most of the people in the mainstream media, I suspect, could also see early on exactly what was going on but to an outrageous degree, they, too, spent Thursday evening doing their best to turn away from the obvious truth. Throughout the evening military and other authorities kept saying, and the talking heads on CNN kept repeating, that there was no sign that this was a terrorist act as if Nidal Malik Hasan had to be officially connected to al-Qaeda to be a jihadist, a pious Muslim who saw the infidel as his enemy.
Living in Norway, I get CNN International, which is different from CNN in the U.S., though when major stories are breaking in the U.S. the international network often switches to the U.S. feed for hours at a time. CNN Internationals sponsors are disproportionately Middle Eastern airlines, tourism authorities, and such; so it was that in between ads for the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, for Abu Dhabi tourism, for some art show in Abu Dhabi, and for the Dubai World Championship, not to mention cozy promos for an apparently soft-feature series called Inside the Middle East (presented in association with Qatar Foundation), CNN reporters kept hammering home the line that Hasan had been the victim of anti-Muslim prejudice by his military colleagues. ...

Substitute the word "student(s)" for "major" and you have the redux from Colombine and VaTech, only this time in ACUs instead of jeans and a T-shirt. Just another victim disarmament zone, move along - there is nothing to see here.
those military colleagues make fun of each other for being from BROOKLYN, or NEBRASKA, or THE SOUTH....or EATING CORN BREAD!....
geeshk...if an Major in the Army has a hard time with “words” to the point he needs media to run out and defend his slaughter of fellow soldiers, we have a serious problem!
not to mention that whole story about his car being “keyed.”
I think it was his cousin....claimed his car was “keyed” with the word Alah.....I say he made it up...he wanted people to think he was a victim of hate when it is really him that is filled with hate...
think about it.....if someone wanted to harass this guy for being Muslim, of all things to key on his car, would “Alah” be the word? noooooooooooot buyin it!
Exactly!
I am extremely disappointed with the coverage of this tragedy.
1. Your point is spot on. Anyone who's ever worn the uniform knows harassment of this type would have been severely dealt with by the chain of command. It's even more true today than when I left the Army 25 years ago.
2. On more than one occasion, news readers had to be corrected on statements such as "hey, this was an army base. Thousands of people carrying weapons all the time!" It was obvious that these jerks, including Shep Smith on Fox, had never set foot on a military installation.
No matter what he does or says during his term, he will NEVER fill the shoes of a Commander in Chief. It is not a role an anti-war activist/community organizer will ever fit.
What a travesty for CinC.
My Irish Setter can salute better than that.
I'm not buying the car-key story either. And if a muslim was being harrassed, all he would have to do is to mention it to superiors and all the guilty parties would be punished beyond reason.
No, this guy was thinking about all these troops deploying with their weapons overseas, and who were they aiming their weapons at? Fellow muslims. He was thinking, we shouldn't be in muslim countries at all. He was taught by the Qur'an that to kill muslims is punishable by death. His duty was jihad. I would look very closely at the mosques he was attending. Very closely.
HEY THERE!
I am doing a bit better today... head still clogged, but been sick for 2 weeks! YUCK!
I am with you on this guy.....such a shame so many heroes were lost......
you joining us next week?
Apparently he claimed his car was keyed with the word “Allah” and he filed a “Hate Crime” complaint shortly before this incident.
You mean Monday for the TPE? If they don’t make me work, yes. Not sure at this point.
BUMP!
