Dems exploit infant deaths to sell ObamaCare
The American Thinker ^ | November 06, 2009 | William Tate

There are lies, there are damned lies, and there are the statistics that Democrats have ginned up to try to sell ObamaCare.

The most recent example comes from statistics, bandied about by their media mouthpieces this week, purporting that infant mortality rates in the U.S. are proof that the healthcare system is sick and needs Drs. Obama, Pelosi and Reid to cure it.

Big Media reportedly breathlessly this week that the U.S. ranks 30th in infant mortality rates. They preached that that standing reflects the quality of the country's healthcare system, that we fall short of other countries and need to adopt ObmaCare.

Oh they care about infants.

They care that there is enough money going to abortion clinics and planned deathhood to abort infants.

That is Dem infant care.

Fascinating.

The US must institute government health care because of the high infant mortality rates.

These high rates are largely due to older rich women (who have insurance) taking fertility drugs because they can’t get knocked up the regular way.

A major cause of infertility is a history of abortions.

The government health care in prospect will inevitably wind up paying for abortion.

Nice circularity.

Oh the irony... use supposedly dying children to push their horrid agenda...yet how many pre-birth children are the Democrats responsible for murdering?

How true. I think the leftists illogic is finally starting to catch up with them. Anybody who looks at their positions on the big issues can spot the silliness of it all.

I think the main reason for our infant death rate when compared to other countries is in “who is included in the count?”. Many countries do not iclude a child who dies within the first 24-48 hours as an infant death but as a miscarriage. Others do not include in the counting a child born before a certain number of weeks. Here in the US we include all the premies, etc. Since our counting methodogy differs and we include more as infants than the others of course our infant mortality rate is higher.

While stationed in Japan during the late 60s, if a person survived a traffic accident over 24 hours he wasn’t included as a traffic fatality but simply died of severe trama or some such. Even using this methodology the traffic fatality rate was about triple the US rate.

This is absolute BS. The only honest way to compare infant mortality rates is to disaggregate the data by groups. IOW, compare whites in the U.S. to whites in Europe, etc.

Our overall infant mortality rate is higher because of our large black population. Even when black women have the same access to care as white women, they are more likely to have low birth weight babies that do not survive.

This demagoguery is outrageous. We know the facts and they have nothing to do with our excellent healthcare system.

I know that is the reason( and it should be given wide publicity) BUT what I was pointing out was the utter hypocrisy of the party of Partial Birth Abortion using infantile mortality rates in their arguments for Obamacare
