You don't encourage the Muslims to take out their trash by sounding like as much of a threat to them as the trash. It's not easy standing up against your own side, especially when they are driven by emotion rather than reason. Note the abuse I'm taking in this thread for suggesting that genocide or the murder of innocent people because they happen to be Muslim and ignoring the Constitution to persecute Muslims are neither morally sound nor consistent with conservative values.

Muslims are not taking out their trash regardless of encouragement. Muslims in America have been keeping their mouths shut — in support or not, but they are not risking being regarded as “bad Muslims” and thus ending up dead at the hands of the “good Muslims”.
That's never going to work. Fear is not respect and it's time people stopped confusing the two. People protect people the respect, even when they are down. They stab people that they fear in the back. If they fear us more than the Islamofascists, that's simply going to turn them into Islamofascists or encourage them to help them because people want to destroy what they fear most. How many coordinated Muslim terrorist attacks (as opposed to one or two crazed individual like the murders today) have occurred on American soil since 9/11? There are Muslim informants reporting terrorism in their community. You can find examples here and here. I agree that it would be nice if they did more and they should do more but it doesn't help if they don't get any credit when they do help and just get grouped in with the radicals even if they've done nothing wrong.

The professor I had used a textbook that some of the Muslim students objected to because it discussed the Satanic Verses (the Koranic verses that the Rushdie book was titled after, not the Rusdie book) and he defended his choice of textbooks and some objected to his showing of the movie and he ignored them on that, too, and didn't back down. His specialty was Late Byzantine history and the fall of Constantinople and there aren't many periods of history that highlight how Islam encroached into Europe and stayed there than that one.

And every mosque should have a minder who speaks Arabic attend all functions to see what’s really going on.
