Yep! Unless you are in a direct training exercize or your duty requires you to have one the normal military does not have access weapons! Weapons are kept in the armory. You just do not carry a weapon around because you have a uniform on!

That is hogwash. The only ones carrying weapons on a base are the MP’s and Federal officers (if present). Some soldiers may be carrying weapons heading to and from training, but I highly doubt they would be authorized to go after the bad guy unless they were directly under attack.

I wish. Both for myself, and for those killed or wounded today who would not have been, if just a few of the soldiers and civilians, who were in that processing center, had been armed.
