From one of my readers in Newark:
"Figured I'd shoot you an update before the after-work rush. There has been a slight uptick in in turnout, but the biggest uptick is number of unions guys out there. The streets of Newark are crawling with people in SEIU purple shirts. They are near polling places, placing campaign lit on cars, and all the kind of stuff. Big labor is heavily invested in a Corzine win and Corzine is dependent upon them for his GOTV so it is not surprising to us that they are out there, just that it took them this long."
The Essex campaign HQ has more workers then I have ever seen before, which includes 2008 and 2005. Everyone is fired up because they heard Rudy and other GOP heavy hitters are in NJ and which never happens. PolitickerNJ reports that Newark's North Ward and the South Ward are each reporting about 4,000 votes. They quote Rep. Donald Payne, a local Democrat, as saying it should be enough for a "narrow victory."
So it doesnt look good? I feel like I have been here before.
Some blue states just need to written off. Not worth the time, money or effort.
I just hope people are taking pictures of the SEIU thugs and documenting any voter fraud taking place.
They must have waited to see the trend and determined how many “votes” they needed for the win....
Guess they’ve stolen enough votes in Joisey to give the Goldman Sachs billionaire another win for “the little people.”
Is there another group on earth more gullible than Democrat voters?
Why?They have Holder’s blessing;just business as usual.
It won’t be huge unless they offer “Obama money”
The vote must be really tight for them to get so active late in the day.
From this morning:
NEWARK - Overall turnout in New Jerseys largest city is hovering near 30% of where it was last year when Barack Obama ultimately racked over 77,112 votes, according to Democratic Party sources on the ground.
That is below the goal of 50% the Corzine campaign wants in Newark, where incumbent Democratic Gov. Jon Corzine won 39,573 votes in 2005.
A South Ward source says operations are humming, not buzzing.
The Democratic incumbents targeted Obama allies - so-called surge voters - are going to the polls, however, the response by regular registered voters in other South Ward districts is light so far, says the source.
In the Central Ward, morning results are less than 25% of turnout numbers achieved by this time last year, according to a Central Ward party operative.
Turnout in “R” areas is heavy.
Can anyone tell me why unions are vested in a Corslime win????
My hubby is a local 472 member and the hall is full of unemployed members. There is no construction going on in NJ!
The next job Hubby is going on after finishes up the Turnpike job will be in Staten Island.
Corslime has been a disaster for NJ, wake up Newark, Camden and Patterson!
No excuses!!!! u get what u vote form, or don’t vote for.
I would not be surprised if the repub pulls this off. My reasons are (1) Anti-encumbant mood, (2) The unions may be fired up for Corzine but maybe no one else, (3) I think that even New Jersey residents have a limit to the graft and corruption in their state especially how there last senator Laut was selected for them.
Not predicting a victory but I would not be surprised if Christie has a margin greater than what ever SEIU and ACORN can cover.
Muslims.
Not going to happen— Corzine pulls this off. 55 for Corzine on intrade. That freakin sux.
“I just hope people are taking pictures of the SEIU thugs and documenting any voter fraud taking place.”
Was listening to talk radio here in NJ this afternoon...
Someone called in to the Jersey Guys saying that Corzine supporters were handing out “Vote for Corzine” flyers INSIDE a polling place! (not sure what district)
“Not going to happen Corzine pulls this off. 55 for Corzine on intrade. That freakin sux.”
Corzine has gained 10 in Intrade in the past few hours. Is it due to reaction to exit polls?
They hope those SEIU and ACORN buses from surrounding states can get through rush hour traffic?
