Response to Vice President Biden's Comments Today About My Position On Energy Independence (Palin Be

Palin's Latest Facebook Note

As the vice president knows, I have always advocated an all-of-the-above approach to American energy independence. Among other things, my alternative energy goal for Alaska sits at 50 percent because Alaska reached more than 20 percent during my term in office. The Obama-Biden administration, on the other hand, recently announced a renewable goal of only 25 percent. However, domestic drilling should remain a top priority in order to meet America’s consumption and security needs.

The vice president’s extreme opposition to domestic energy development goes all the way back to 1973 when he opposed the Alaska pipeline bill. As Ann Coulter pointed out, “Biden cast one of only five votes against the pipeline that has produced more than 15 billion barrels of oil, supplied nearly 20 percent of this nation’s oil, created tens of thousands of jobs, added hundreds of billions of dollars to the U.S. economy and reduced money transfers to the nation’s enemies by about the same amount.”

This nonsensical opposition to American domestic energy development continues to this day. Apparently the Obama-Biden administration only approves of offshore drilling in Brazil, where it will provide security and jobs for Brazilians. This election is about American security and American jobs.

There’s one way to tell Vice President Biden that we’re tired of folks in Washington distorting our message and hampering our nation’s progress: Hoffman, Baby, Hoffman!

She's quick to say what she's against, but doesn't actually say what she's for.

Were you asleep while reading? She is clearly for American energy independence through a variety of technologies and she is clearly for drilling within our borders and shores. Is English your second language?

Iscool, I’m pinging r9etb with your post, since you quoted him on your first point.

r9etb: “She gave up her best chance to do that when she resigned as governor. Facebook postings and speeches to party faithful are a mighty poor substitute for actual political leadership.”

Iscool: “There’s your problem...It is NOT the party faithful that moved Hoffman up the ladder...It is the party UN-Faithful...”

Me: “ou must be under 40. After Reagan gave up the CA governorship to campaign for the GOP candidacy in 1976 (which he narrowly lost to Ford), he wrote a regular newpaper column. He was largely written off politically because of his age and his loss in 1976. None the less, he won the primary in 1980 and the rest is history.”

Iscool: “Reagan’s gone...He’ll never be President again...Nobody reads newspapers columns anymore...”

I must not have made my point clearly. The original comment by r9etb disparaged Palin’s Facebook entry as trivial and ineffective. I intended to draw an analogy between Palin’s Facebook entries at this time between elections and Reagan’s editorials in the late 70’s before his election. Both of them kept their names and their views in the public eye.

Iscool: “And it wasn’t the party faithful that elected Reagan...You can’t use RR for the poster boy of the RNC even tho they latched onto him after his win just like they’re trying to do with Hoffman...”

You’re correct—Reagan appealed to Democratic conservatives as well as Republicans and was popular with moderates as well because of his personality and clear, positive communication.

But there is no reason we can’t or shouldn’t use Reagan as a model for the RNC to emulate—why shouldn’t they copy success? He certainly embodies conservative principles, which are believed by a majority of Americans.

I have no doubt that Sarah Palin is the head of the Republican Party and the future of the Republican Party.

She is smart by going the Facebook/internet route.

This is the smartest move she has made; if she did You-tube, the jerks would have chopped up her clips and distorted the real meaning of what she was saying, a brilliant move....Go Sarahcuda!!!!!

"Are you really willing to take a chance on her, given what's almost certain to face the next president?"

She is the only presumed candidate that is unquestionably qualified to lead in trying circumstances.

The rest are cartoon characters.

She didn’t resign over the stress. At the time, the primary reason that I recall is that she resigned over financial ruin made likely by a new state law that permitted anyone to file a frivolous lawsuit against her. Never a rich family, I believe I remember something in the neighborhood of 2 dozen lawsuits and hundreds of thousands in lawyers’ fees.

In the “debates” a year ago, Palin had a chance to show the utter stupidity of Joe Biden of little DE, but she played the role of gentlewoman and hardly laid a finger on him. As a result, Biden declared victory, and he won.

I like Palin.

The resignation has really enabled her to be a force. Hope she keeps it up.
