The Federal Stimulus Package has been distributed in many different ways around the nation, and now some people are getting an $8,000 tax credit for buying a souped up golf cart.
Golf cart manufacturers have found a way to cash in by selling their carts as street legal, low speed vehicles.
Under the presidents stimulus plan, those who buy one of the electric vehicles, can get a check back for up to $7,500.
I only came in because I was impressed with the fact of the rebate, one customer said. I could foresee using this for all our driving within our community.
The price tag for a Hummer model golf cart is $18,000, but with the government rebate buyers receive $6,000 back.
The rebate is nearly as much as the first-time homebuyer tax credit of $8,000.
The golf cart tax credit runs out at the end of the year.
The IRS has emphasized that this tax credit does not apply to golf carts, and is meant strictly for electric vehicles primarily used on actual roads.
I could use a nice Gator, those things are cool.
Ridiculous... Can I get one of those? All golfers are lined up for miles I hear... Okay, just another example of the stupid government policies.
Line up for free money!!!!
Again !!!!!!!!!
That’s what happens when you let unions write a bill that absolutely positively has too pass over night. You get a bill full of holes that does more damage then it helps.
Bunch of overweight people who should be walking.
There are a lot of golf cart companies advertizing this and the piece posted yesterday had the IRS ruling the other way.
Anyone know for sure?
Our local Super Wal-Mart usually has several golf carts parked there from two retirement communities that are nearby. Lights, taillights, horn and turn signals are on all of them.
the point is that if they’re modified for road, they’re not golf carts any more.
My Brother-inlaw has a Golf Car shop and he has been advertising the heck out of this. These cars are called street-legal and are approved for road use.
